witchery are a supergroup made up of members of the haunted,arch enemy and bloodbath are in themselves another supergroup,while the members main bands steamroll on the road of melodic sheer heaviness,witchery are a thrash metal band more interested in entertaining us with good old fashioned thrash metal and they do it as well of any of the old guard of exodus,testament etc.
the album is a killer of shreds and riffs and manic drumming and good old fashioned,dare i say cheesy lyrics,its all about fun in the heaviest metal kind of way,there are 3 instrumentals on show here but they are all very good so dont panic,there is no filler on this either,one slight complaint is that some of the songs are slower than a typical witchery song but thats a small grumble,i love thrash fast but they still make a slowed down thrash song very enjoyable,and thats key to this album as it is very enjoyable,its 45 minutes of very satisfying thrash metal and thats what we all love

A highly accomplished Scandinavian duo comprising of øystein G. Brun and Mr.V (aka Vintersorg aka Andreas Hedlund), both related to folk/metal band Borknagar.

But this is an unique musical adventure far beyond the folk/black metal idiom. Mainly programmed/computerized music which try to capture the frightening, ice cold beauty of the arctic north. Underpinned by fitting, well-written lyrics and some delightiful, artistic photos by Brun of the icy ocean landscape.

There are elements of art rock; of course some metallic ingredients like Hedlund's growls and some occasional blast beats, but also new age and freezing beauty. Not that much guitar, though Brun takes a few solos, while Hedlund provides some discreet bass.

Distinctive and experimental.
