4.0 out of 5 stars Worm-blasting goodness!, 5 April 2006
By A Customer
I saw this advertised & on a fit of nostalgia, I decided to buy it.... and I wasn't disappointed! Pretty much a decent transfer from the original Worms game that debuted back in the 90s, making good use of the DS touch screen to handle weapons selection and to move the view on the top screen by dragging the frame around on the map on the bottom screen.

Admittedly, it may be a little bland for Worms veterans, especially for those used to the later versions in 3D, and the ability to modify weapons etc (the set you get here are the basic ones first introduced with the first Worms games of the 90s). There are a limited amount of maps, and the weapons seem to be a little off when it comes to damage (cluster grenades and the airstrike don't seem to have the same satisfying impact that they used to). Still, for gaming on the go, and the ability to throw high explosives whilst screaming "DIIIEEE" in a squeeky worm voice to someone on the other side of the world on the DS wi-fi connection I would definately recommend it!

3.0 out of 5 stars worth the wait?, 1 April 2006

(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
remember back when the DS first came out, Worms was an "announced" title. 1 1/2 years later, the game finally came out, and to be honest, I have no idea what took so long considering what I got.

This version of the game has Multiplayer, Challenge mode, and Quick mode (plus all the configuration options). The Challenge mode is severely lacking, as it is preset to be 10 minutes, 1 minute turn, and these options are not changeable. So after every move I make, I have to wait a full minute (and lose that time before sudden death) due to poor AI.

The game keeps track of your teams win/loss/draw statistics, but not of individual worms, and the team stats can only be viewed after finishing a quick match. So much for having a "favorite" worm or captain.

The amount of map generation is quite good, but still follows in line as none of the sequels to this series has had the variety of map forms as the original Worms for Playstation.

Weapons? The Banana Bomb and Sheep are still here, thankfully, but sorely lacking are the Holy Hand Grenade and the Sheep Launcher, SuperSheep, and Baseball Bat. The coolest weapons in the game leave, but the basic prod, dragonball, and kamikaze, all very poor in damage, remain.

I am a bit disappointed with this game, but it is mostly due to my own high hopes. Yes, this game is decent and im sure a lot of people out there will like it especialy if the price were a bit lower.

Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this game ignoring the reveiws on here about it not being very good.I thought the game was good and great for two players when you fight against each other.i had the worms 2 game on my pc an i thought it was great and basicly you have the same thing on the ds.i agree that there are not many weapons on the ds version but there are enough for what you need to play the game.my only down point would have to be is dont buy the game new get it 2nd hand cheap.its not worth the full price of a ds game but around £15 is what i paid an im happy with it.
