worth the wait?, 1 April 2006
remember back when the DS first came out, Worms was an "announced" title. 1 1/2 years later, the game finally came out, and to be honest, I have no idea what took so long considering what I got. This version of the game has Multiplayer, Challenge mode, and Quick mode (plus all the configuration options). The Challenge mode is severely lacking, as it is preset to be 10 minutes, 1 minute turn, and these options are not changeable. So after every move I make, I have to wait a full minute (and lose that time before sudden death) due to poor AI. The game keeps track of your teams win/loss/draw statistics, but not of individual worms, and the team stats can only be viewed after finishing a quick match. So much for having a "favorite" worm or captain. The amount of map generation is quite good, but still follows in line as none of the sequels to this series has had the variety of map forms as the original Worms for Playstation. Weapons? The Banana Bomb and Sheep are still here, thankfully, but sorely lacking are the Holy Hand Grenade and the Sheep Launcher, SuperSheep, and Baseball Bat. The coolest weapons in the game leave, but the basic prod, dragonball, and kamikaze, all very poor in damage, remain. I am a bit disappointed with this game, but it is mostly due to my own high hopes. Yes, this game is decent and im sure a lot of people out there will like it especialy if the price were a bit lower.
