Yet another high quality RPG, 21 Jun 2006

So, here it is, Popolocrois on PSP, and what do we think of it, well it's all right. The game follows a young boy named Pietro, prince of a kingdom called Popolocrois whose mother has fallen into a deep sleep and he desires to awake, the opening intro is excellent and you'll see and understand exactly what happened when you watch it, but i Don't want to spoil the surprise.
Graphically, the characters are all 2D in a 3D world, (there are a lot of games recently adopting this style,) Yet, they are too small to really highlight the details of the characters, and this is a little bit of a flaw. Yet the environments and character quirks are all nice. Villages are varied from the massive kingdom of Popolocrois, to the mountain regions, and the mining village of Godriff. Enemy design is good.
Basically, gameplay is the typical, go here, talk to lots of people, kill a lot of enemies affair. The game takes place in turn based combat, where characters can improve and learn inidividual special skills, and use experience to level up becoming stronger and stronger. There is also potential to upgrade your weapons. The game boasts around 60 gameplay, but the fights are too often and too frequent, requiring you to move your character and hit, i.e. too repetitive, but what this game has is an excellent story and very cute characters. A must have for RPG fans, but action fans may want to avoid.

This is a great game. You follow the story of Pietro as he tries to banish the world of evil to restore piece. As you go on with the story Pietro finds new friends who all help him with his quest and bring something new to the party.
One downside about this game is the lack of mini games. As a fan of Final Fantasy games I am used to plenty of mini games and sidequests in an RPG.
If you want about 30 hours of fun to pass the time then this is a must buy.

Surely an undiscovered gem, 4 Jul 2006
Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
I'm quite upset not to see any other reviews for this game. First released on the original PlayStation in 1996, this is your traditional 2d role-playing game. And very good it is too...
Of course, I havn't fully completed it yet, but sat down to play it in bed last sunday night with no work in the morning. The PERFECT GAME FOR THIS OCCASION. I was engrossed for about an hour when tiredness took its toll.
I know this isn't a totally informative review, but if you like traditional 2d RPGs, this is ideal.
