5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun game if you don't expect it to be a serious action sim, you'll enjoy it, 15 Jul 2006

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
When I first saw an ad for this game, it did catch my attention, because I'm a big fan of the SWAT series on the PC, and at first I thought it would maybe be similar, in fact although it involves the Police, and the Emergency servies it's quite different, and has more of a 'Die Hard Vendetta/SWAT Global Strike Team' feel to it, but has incorporated some unique features I've never seen in a videogame before, such as instead of collecting health packs, you have a medic from the emergency services who will be around in the level, if you need replenishing you go to her and she'll give you a needle, this seems much more realistic than the health pack method, also the riot shield, hold it in front of you and you'll deflect all bullets and most fire, you can even reload behind it, and get up close to someone, bash them it'll knock them out, this is what makes the game unique, and if used right can get you through even the harder difficulties.

It has a strictly an arcade feel and structure to it, and is not just about completing missions, but also collecting evidence in the form of gang masks hidden around each level, and meeting a set number of headshots and non violent arrests with your stungun, and taking down the gang boss non lethally and bringing him in alive, all these accumalate points which in turn unlock various new weapons and upgrades.
There is also variety in the missions, 6 of the 17 missions in the game are called 'Emergency' missions, where there is a timer counting down and you have to meet the objective before the time runs out.

The game involves a lot of working alongside firemen and finding your way around dark burning buildings looking for people who are trapped, you can order firemen, police and medics to do things for you, also hide and take cover so you can keep them alive.

I knew after playing just the first level in this game it was my kind of thing, and I absolutely love it, the games a real winner, no wonder one of the reviewers here said he was up until 4am playing it.

Just as long as you realise its an arcade blast-a-thon and not a PC SWAT type sim you'll know what your getting.

5.0 out of 5 stars kept me up till 4am!, 20 May 2006
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I dont usually write reviews but I picked up Urban Chaos yesterday and ended up playing it till 4am! It's the most fun I have had with a first person shooter in ages. This game is really good fun - not just another bland and souless shooter. It's very violent but that just adds to the satisfaction, it is a shooter after all. The riot shield totally changes the way I played the game too, it makes it so much more fun. I have not seen the multiplayer yet but even without playing it I would recommend Urban Chaos to anyone that likes a good fun shooter.

2.0 out of 5 stars Average, 15 Jun 2006

(REAL NAME)
Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This game was not really what i expected, i was kinda hopin for a black crossed with soldier of fortune type of shooter. I played it and thought it was very arcady, good in places but not tactical at all. just go through shootin the hell out of everything with a mask on. The concept is good with the weapons, choosing which style you want to use, and the kill cam adds elements of fun to the action. But the graphics are very cartoony, blood splats look crap and enemy a.i is standard. People who havent played a diverse selection of FPS games will probably think this is an ok game, but those that have played the likes of black with its destructable envioronments, or soldier of fortune with its real time physical damage, will most likely rate this game as below average. Its good points are the protective sheild, the co-operation with other emergancy service's, a few other added concepts like the backdraft from fires upon entering burning buildings are also quite original but overall it is quite rushed. More effort into the games engine and structure would have made this game really good, but as it stands it is just another FPS nothing special. I feel i should have paid under a tenner for this game instead of £22, not a good buy. IN A NUTSHELL BUY BLACK.
