This disc of music for harpsichord, virginal, spinet, organ and fortepiano, showcases not only the virtuosic talent of John Kitchen but also the diversity of the Raymond Russell collection of Early Keyboard Instruments. The variety and depth of the collection makes it one of the most important of its kind in the world today.

Kitchen's playing, elegant and stylish throughout, shows off the range of instruments to their full potential. The repertoire, impeccably chosen to suit each instrument, ranges from simple elegance to voluptuous decadence. The playing is characterised by an astounding attention to detail which allows Kitchen to bring out the character of each individual instrument.

This disc, the culmination of an exceptionally high standard of recording and John Kitchen's masterful playing, can not be recommended highly enough.
