DVD Description
Lesley Bilinda is determined to track down the killers of her Rwandan husband, Charles, who disappeared during the 1994 genocide, in which up to a million people died. When she returns to Rwanda, where she lived and worked with the charity Tearfund, Lesley faces a web of deception and fear, and uncovers unexpected and unpalatable truths about her husband. Like thousands of other genocide widows she grapples with the inner turmoil of loss and betrayal, but is also challenged to forgive those responsible and practically live out her faith.

This film is a powerful and personal insight into a humanitarian tragedy demonstrating the incredible strength of the human spirit in the face of evil.

"Deeply, hauntingly moving", Archbishop Desmond Tutu

4.0 out of 5 stars Food for Thought, 20 April 2006
By J. Blair "Enjoys books" (Scorland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
A mixed message-Africa in all its beauty, genocide and all its horror, truth and deceit, and through it all Lesley Bilinda and her mission to find out about her husband's final hours. It is a moving story and makes one think so hard about how people can be thrown into situations requiring courage and strength without any warning. This is a thought provoking documentary and some scenes are harrowing but they have been filmed with sensitivity and honesty and are essential to the story. An excellent way of telling a difficult story with compassion and an illustration of how a strong faith can survive challenge.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sacrifice, Forgivenss and Heartache in Rwanda, 15 Mar 2006
By Giles Morrison (Sheffield, S. Yorks United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
The tragedy of the Rwandan genocide is viewed here from the perspective of just one person whose life and work were closely involved in Rwandan culture. While the story focuses on the effect on one person's life, the intimacy with which the viewer accompanies Lesley Bilinda on her investigation into her husband's death shows how her experience is common to so many of the people she visits.

This is documentary reporting in a very hard place. Lesley's anguish is apparent throughout and the strain on her transparent. As an opportunity to reflect on the outcome of a modern holocaust, that Lesley has the courage and conviction to offer forgiveness to the man most likely responsible for her husband's death is tragic in its rawness of emotion, yet there is a sense of the redemptive in a country that is seeking its own forgiveness.

Powerful, moving and compelling viewing.

4.0 out of 5 stars An extraordinary journey, 14 April 2006
By Mikepeat "mikepeat" (Lancaster. UK) - See all my reviews
It's difficult to start to describe what this film covers. Beginning with a woman's journey to trace the facts around the death of her husband in the Rwandan genocide, it moves on to become a journey of self-discovery. As Lesley Bilinda finds out more and more of the painful fatcs, the more it reveals what a remarkable woman she is.

If she can hold on to her faith in such circumstances, it must be an inspiration for the rest of us.
