4.0 out of 5 stars Nice camera but....., 5 Sep 2007
By S. Astill "Nilotic" (UK) - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)
I bought one of these in Spain a few monthe ago for the princely sum of £90 to replace my trusty old Fuji 2800 zoom, mainly due to the higher resolution and olympus lens. The picture quality is superb and while the knobs and buttons are fiddly it is very easy to use. I subsequently bought the waterproof case and took it to Greece in August and our love affair promptly died. There is only one drawback with this style of camera, No (optical or digital) viewfinder. While the picture quality is still great, if you want to take pictures with the flash in low light the LCD is black. If you want to take pictures in bright light the LCD is burnt out. If you want to take pictures underwater the reflections stop you from seeing the LCD. composition is pure guesswork and as a result I am now pacing the floor awaiting delivery of a Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ8. I wont get rid of this camera as it is a great drop in your pocket and go out camera, but that is all. If you are in the market for this type of camera look around a little more and find one with a viewfinder!

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice camera - shame about the quality, 26 Jan 2007
By Wilz "wilson9hb" (Bristol, England) - See all my reviews

I've purchased six cameras from Amazon each around £100 including all the best brand names. We have two Olympus - one that is used by my son is great. This one was for my daughter. On the first battery change the battery door lock failed and the camera is useless. This is a shame as the quality of pictures, rear screen and all other features are good. Confident that I had never experienced a problem with returns to Amazon I e mailed them. First mistake! I purchased this through Pixmania and as a result Amazon are not remotely interested. I contacted Pixmania, secure in the knowledge that as an Amazon "approved" dealer I would get a replacement without bother. Second mistake! As over 30 days old - not interested! So I telephoned Olympus. Third mistake - I never got to actually speak to any one but had to post the camera off for "repair". That was two weeks ago. What have I heard? Nothing!
Lesson here. Buy only DIRECTLY from Amazon. Their "under £100" cameras are great value - if they don't go wrong!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Small camera with a great spec., 28 Dec 2006
By Ludders (Kent, England) - See all my reviews
A great little camera, ideal for first time digital users. The Olympus system to download to the PC is easy to set up and use. It produces great pictures and the cameras inbuilt instructions are very helpful. It is a small camera , so be aware that if like me you have large hands it can take some getting used to. Other than that this is well worth a look.
