Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Taste the tension and take the big hits as Rugby 06 slams you back into the scrum for the most realistic and intense rugby experience yet.

Keep the match flowing with new off-load passing and quick set plays and get as close as you can get to the mud, sweat and tears of the real thing with faster, more realistic and responsive gameplay.

Drive your team to victory with effective use of your impact players whose innovation, inspiration and discipline can mean the difference between a humiliating defeat and a spectacular win.

When the pressure is really on and the game is on the line, resort to tough tactics to neutralise your opposition's impact players. Used at the right time, laying a high hit on an opponent can turn the game in your favour. But remember, it's just as likely to hand the advantage to your rivals and land your player in the dreaded sin bin.

With authentic teams and players, more expansive gameplay and all-new hard-hitting action, Rugby 06 lays bare the heart and soul of the greatest game on earth.

5.0 out of 5 stars At Last a Rugby game for Rugby fans!!, 14 Feb 2006
By M. R. Tully "Mat Tully" (Reading, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have played every rugby game ever released, from Jonah Lomu, EA Rugby (various years) and World Championship Rugby etc, etc. Every time I felt let down that not enough effort had gone into the design of the games, I doubt that any of the designers even knew what rugby was!!! I even bought Rugby Challenge 2006 last week, which was just as dire as the rest, with awful commentary and gameplay. There were no knock ons or penalties so it was a regular occurance to see a one half last about 120mins!!! I traded it in for Rugby '06, and I was over the moon with what I found! Rugby '06 is the best rugby game ever...no question. Quick lineouts, tap penalties, knock ons and for the first time the opposite teams actually give away penalties! This all gives the game a very realistic feel. A further feature is that of correct anthems, crowd songs, (Bread of Heaven, Swing low) and New Zealand perform the Haka in a nice cut scene before you kick off.

A great rugby game that at last will satisfy a true fan. Buy it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The new generation of PS2 rugby in the making, 21 Mar 2006
Number 1. This is a amazing game. It has everything you need for a true die hard fan of rugby so they will be pleased. I like rugby games due to the exciting and different things to the classic madden games. The flow of the game is really good compared to it's prevoius types 2005 for example. There is also the difficulty level that can be changed to create a much more intense gameplay for those looking for a challenge and those who will have the game for a long time. The levels are - Easy - Easy , Pro - More challenging - Elite - A real game of rugby. This game you will want to keep. Trust me.

5.0 out of 5 stars god this is good, 17 Nov 2006

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
im a massive rugby fan, and this game really did impress me.

Good Points
Massive Graphics improvement on rugby 05
AI very good- A computer-controlled Jason Robinson will still go on a very mazy, jinking run
Great attention to detail- Gavin henson's hunched approach to a kick at goal, Jonny Wilkinsons's clenched hands and even Gareth Thomas' trademark head slapping celebration
New things such as high tackles, offloads etc. really make it soooo much better than 05

Bad points
Rucking really needs to be improved, turnovers are just too easy
Slightly over compensating on this impact player thing, Jonny Wilkinsons touch finders are just far too long on this game

overall a flippin' fantastic game, trust me its worth every penny
