I haven't played the video game yet, but this is one soundtrack that stands on its own as a complete, integrated listening experience.

The album consists of a well-selected bunch of covers of oldies, done by alternative and indie bands, and none of the tracks are available elsewhere, except for the Raveonettes track, which is on their latest album.

So, it's a bunch of rarities for collectors and hardcore fans of the bands, right? Well, yes, but it's more than that. Death Cab's version of Earth Angel is as heartbreaking and fragile as anything on Plans, The Flaming Lips' take on If I Only Had a Brain (from The Wizard of Oz), is wonderfully hyperactive and bizarre, Ben Kweller's version of Lollipop is wonderfully sweet, etc. etc. etc.

In short, every track on this album is great. If you love pop--classic oldies pop all the way to current indie pop, then this album is for you.

this soundtrack is an amazing complement to the game. tracks like Ben Kweller's cover of lollipop and Flaming Lips' If I Only Had A Brain make this album a must-buy!!!! Braaaaaaaaaaaains!

The game itself was slightly disappointing, after all, how could anybody go wrong with a zombie game set in the 50's?!

The soundtrack has a few very good covers, with "Death Cab For A Cutie"'s version of "Earth Angel" being the real stand out track on the album, along with "Milton Mapes'" version of "Lonesome Town"

There are a few tracks that you will only listen to once, and may not even get as far as half way through them, but if your looking for something slightly different to add to your cd collection, this could be for you!
