Who else but Tim Burton could make Corpse Bride, a necrophiliac's delight that's fun for the whole family? Returning to the richly imaginative realm of stop-motion animation--after previous successes with The Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach, Burton, with codirector Mike Johnson, invites us to visit the dour, ashen, and drearily Victorian mansions of the living, where young Victor Van Dort, voiced by Johnny Depp, is bequeathed to wed the lovely Victoria.

But the wedding rehearsal goes sour and, in the kind of Goth-eerie forest that only exists in Burton-land, Victor suddenly finds himself accidentally married to the Corpse Bride, voiced by Helena Bonham Carter, a blue-tinted, half-skeletal beauty with a loquacious maggot installed behind one prone-to-popping eyeball.

This being a Burton creation, the underworld of the dead is a lively and colorful place indeed, and Danny Elfman's songs and score make it even livelier, presenting Victor with quite a dilemma: Should he return above-ground to Victoria, or remain devoted to his corpse bride? At a brisk 76 minutes, Burton's graveyard whimsy never wears out its welcome, and the voice casting is superbly matched the film's gloriously amusing character design, guaranteed to yield a wealth of gruesome toys and action figures for many Halloweens to come. --Jeff Shannon

Another dark, kooky gem from Burton. This has an original storyline and amazing animation. There's great music and so many funny little touches to watch out for. The voices are perfect and the story is fun enough for kids and still manages to engage adults. A worthy partner to Burtons other classic 'Nightmare before Christmas'. Give it a go, you shouldn't be disappointed.

If you're reading this, surely you already know the movie, so I'm concentrating on the extra material.

The Limited edition DVD and Book set contains one standart widescreen DVD in a standart DVD case, 8 postcards with pictures of the characters and a book, "Tim Burtons Corpse Bride - The Illustrated Story" all in a slipcase.

The postcards are nice, could be used to send to friends but will most likely be stored in the dvd case.

The DVD is the same as the standart widescreen edition, so I won't get into that.

The Illustrated Story is actually very nice, the lyrics to all the songs are there and there is a lot of pictures and drawings from the storyboard.

All in all you can't help but feel a bit dissapointed there's no extra material not contained in the regular DVD and as many others have mentioned the movie is much to short (I can't blame them, stop-motion takes ages to make) But when you know what you get, you don't put your hopes up for more it's very nice.

A great film! This is one of Tim Burton's best movies. All of the different characters are wonderful (especially Emily's maggot) and The animaiton is spectacular. The songs are slightly hit and miss but they fit in well with the story. Like the Nightmare Before Christmas this film will entertain both adults and children.
