...in what appears to be a series of good ones. Which is good, because I've decided to buy the entire series, as I've enjoyed them so much. The well-known one on this set is the famous Annunciation cantata BWV1 "Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern". However, there are many other good things on these CDs. The Monteverdis and the EBS are on best form, with fresh, crisp sound, and the soloists, while not perfect, sing well. Gardiner has done a great service in introducing so many young singers to Bach and the cantatas in the course of the Pilgrimage. I presume that the audience has been drugged, gagged or strangled, because there isn't a peep out of them.

I look forward with anticipation to the rest of the volumes, at which point I shall be broke but happy.
