Mike I believe Pauleen had every good intention in writing her piece - She, like me, is probably not a deep Classical fan and has tried to discover the origins of the Ace of Spies theme. I'm sure the credits for the series do mention the adaptation of Shostakovic's work

I heard the Shostakovich piece in Ireland last weekend played by an American Orchestra - the radio presenter gave the details and called the piece "Romance from the Gaslight" though I presume he meant 'GADFLY' ?

I have the DVDs (bought-via the USA- on AMAZON) and will monitor the credits next time I watch and will update here if Pauleen indicates she has read this.

In any case a great piece of composing - enough to turn one 'classical' for ever.

Bought only for Romance from The Gadfly, theme from Reilly Ace of Spies, tried to connect to this but was unable to do so. The version above was lovely but I don't think it was the actual one used.
