Product Description

CD Description

Debut solo album from erstwhile Lamb frontwoman. Following the dissolution of both her band and her long-term relationship, she got back to her roots by moving with her children to a hippie commune in the country. The resulting album is pure folk - the electronic textures and rhythms of Lamb are replaced by acoustic guitars, strings, and ethnic percussion and instrumentation, while the heartfelt, emotional lyrics for which Rhodes is famed are bolstered by her newfound bucolic setting and close sense of community.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lou Rhodes NOT Lamb, 2 April 2006
By C. Wilson "Mammandoula" (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is Lou Rhodes, not Lamb and this is where some people may have a problem with this album. Same voice and same poetic lyrics, different sound altogether. If you're expecting a version of Lamb then you will be dissapointed because this is Lou's work not Lamb! This is her sharing her craft, letting us have a glimpse into her soul with her beautiful crafted words & music. IT is simple and open, sometimes even raw and the vulnerability is what I loved most about this album. Expect a beautiful voice accompanied by folk rythms, simple melodies, violins and guitars obviously made with love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breathtaking, 31 Jan 2006
By A Customer
Just buy this! Lou has branched out on her own and created the most beautiful, moving modern folk you'll hear. A fully acoustic album that allows her unmistakable voice to be both subtle and powerful. Touching lyrics, beautiful melodies and richly textured acoustic sounds. It is a complex album sounding both ancient and original, melancholy and joyful. This won't gather dust on my shelves!
