Amazon.co.uk Review
Given the haste in which this sequel followed the original, hopes may not have been particularly high for Saw 2. Yet the film itself proves to be a welcome surprise. For while it has moments where it needlessly attempts to out-gore the original, and while it’s not as clever, there’s plenty here to lift it above the status of lazy cash-in.

The premise, once again, contrives to put a series of apparent strangers into one location, surrounded by various traps and clues to get out. That location, a dilapidated house in this instance, is locked up, and slowly filling with nerve gas. In short, thanks to the work of deadly serial killer Jigsaw, the collection of people inside have two hours to live. This time though, their plight is being watched remotely via a video link by police officers, specifically Detective Eric Matthews, who quickly discovers his son is one of those caught in Jigsaw’s deadly trap.

With a tempered running time that allows little time for waste, where Saw 2 scores is in simply getting on with the job. It’s a slightly bumpier ride than first time round, but again, it’s hard not to get drawn into the fun.

One notable word of warning though: Saw liked its gore, and so does this sequel. No doubt the imminent third entry in the series will be fond of it too. Still, if you’re wary of the need for a strong stomach, there’s a lot to enjoy in this surprisingly strong second instalment.--Simon Brew

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the original!, 23 Mar 2006
When I first heard about saw 2, I got worried becuase I would assume it would be a very bad sequal, just like all other horror sequal films. The orignal was so great though and I hadn't seen good horror film like this for years (I'm sure it will become a classic).
First few seconds of the film I really enjoyed, but 10 minutes in I started to dislike it... Then 20 mins in... I was hooked...
There's so many twists and mysterys in this film, which made me hooked! And it isn't just full of blood and gore (like most sequals). I loved the ending, it was better then the orignal! I mean what a twist, I never saw it comming! I also enjoyed seeing the actors back in the sequal (well... The one's who didn't die).
This film really made me think (even if it was a horror). The only thing I was dissponited about was that it wasn't as scary as the orignal, but that might just be me!
You must see this you won't be dissapointed! I recommed seeing the orignal first though, since you will need some background info.

5.0 out of 5 stars One word.... Amazing, 9 Mar 2006
Do not listen to any one elses reviews that say its just a sequel, it has the most amazing story line, the amount of twists that are hidden beneath the surface of the film is amazing, its is a true thriller taken to extreme levels. Plenty of gore but if thats not youre thing the story line will. Amanda is back for the second time, she plays the most amazing part and the acting is amazing. Like most horror films they are normally out of this world, this one is completely original and scarily believeable. The creator must have an amazing imagination. Its not just gore and blood that this film has, it has everything.

I watched the ending over and over and over again, every time you watch it there is something you have missed the puts the pieces of the film together. There WILL be a SawIII as LGF website has now released. There needs to be based on the ending of the film. All i can say is expect the unexpected. Please watch it, you will be missing out. Its not a sequel its a whole new story. When you see jigsaw go out of the room in Saw I, you wonder where he is going, now you will find out. If you think this film will piece everything together you are wrong! There are new ways of jigsaw killing his victims without laying a hand on them. I would tell you, but it would ruin it. The syringe pit is amazing though, the effects and make up must have taken hours of perfection to reach the standard they are. This is a must buy for all SAW I lovers and more than anyone above horror lovers, thriller lovers. As i said, expect the unexpected......

5.0 out of 5 stars Even better than the first one!, 23 Jul 2006
By Mikey (U.K.) - See all my reviews
For those of you who have the first Saw movie, if you loved that, then this will astound you. With more blood and psychotic games than in the first film, this one also has more of a chilling twist at the end.
As the story comes unravelled, we find out more about Jigsaws past as he tells the chilling story, bit by bit, of how he came about to torture his victims by setting traps for his victims to see how dedicated they are to their lives.

k I'm blabing now, just trust me on this one, buy it and you will love it.
