Product Description

CD Description

Beloved, Peter Pan-like Irish crooner continues his successful run on DMG. O'Donnell has sold a staggering 1.5 million records and scored no less than 6 UK top 10 albums - including this one - since the turn of the century, a feat unmatched by any other artist. This collection of classic love ballads, mostly pulled from the contemporary pop era, is an attempt to reposition him to appeal to a broader audience.

5.0 out of 5 stars FOR THE UNINFORMED!, 5 April 2006
By A Customer
Obviously this reviewer is uninformed. This is 5 star rating for the type of album it is...and it is obvious that a Valentine's release and a tuxedo look, makes him appeal to a wider and younger audience.

Daniel O'Donnell covering a Westlife song? Since when did Westlife have any new material of their own?!

More importantly, Daniel O'Donnell was the first Artist to take 'You Raise Me Up' into the UK singles chart in December 2003!

In 12 months, he has had two No. 1 music DVDs, two Top 10 albums and two sell-out UK tours....plus his sell-out US tours.

He's also the ONLY recording artist to have an album in the UK album chart every year since 1988.

He obviously pleases his many fans and as a matter of fact, the more times a song is covered - making it even more familiar - the more his fans like him to record those songs, so the previous review is rather jaundiced.

1.0 out of 5 stars Where is the love?, 10 Mar 2006

(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
Opportunistically timed to cash-in on Valentine's Day, just a couple of months after his previous release, this is another round of vapid covers by the king of professional Irish karaoke. Don't get me wrong, my gran enjoys it, but she made the mistake of playing it while I visited her. Twice. Its biggest crime is to include O'Donnell's version of the recent chart-topping Westlife single 'You Raise Me Up' only months after their version came out and regrettably won ITV's 'single of the year', and then place it next to a cover of 'Wind Beneath My Wings', which the former unashamedly mimics. From start to finish O'Donnell's voice is flat and emotionless, offering this conservative selection of love standards nothing new or interesting, so what's the point other than to fleece gullible fans? There are plenty of Irish artists out there who actually put time and effort into their albums, only to be ignored while this marketing machine eats up all the pension money with cynical garbage.

It might be aimed at the older market but there's no need to treat them like their brains have already given up on them. 'From Love With Daniel' is a highly spurious title, I can't think of many albums made with less love.

A great record from a fantastic singer, you think that he cannot better himself and then he does. Such a terrific CD from one terrific man!
