Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Having generated a loyal fan-base with their stream of well-received live shows, East London quartet The Infadels finally step to the plate with their much-anticipated debut album. Following on from singles like the revved-up "Jagger 67", the project has been overseen by Jagz "Primal Scream" Kooner and engineer Hugo "Bjork/My Bloody Valentine" Nicholson and is clearly intended to reflect the pop-perfect symmetry and swaggering stage style of the band. Propelled by a plethora of punk-funk licks and dancefloor kicks, cuts like "Love Like Semtex" balance penetrating basslines with verbal attitude and poppy hooks; "Stories From The Bar" meanwhile indicates a wilful flirtation with more avant-garde ideas. Vocalist Bnaan (a former window cleaner) proves a great embellishment to the ear-catching soundtrack, his catchy choruses and Audio Bullys style pseudo-raps blending mellifluously with the energetic soundtrack. Though the band ardently insist they’re not part of the current fetish for all things retro, the fumes of death disco and late 80s punk-funk hang thick in the air. --Paul Sullivan

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best albums I have bought this year! , 30 May 2006
By Jayne Dee "Jayne" (London, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I can't recommend this album enough!

I heard a track on the radio and so the purchase of this album was quite random. I had read good reviews but didn't expect that much from it.

However, this album is one of the best albums I have heard this year! It takes the listener on a journey and seems to take it's style from lots and lots of different albums and artists over the past 50 years.

I really can say that if you buy just one album this year you should make it this!

Jayne.

5.0 out of 5 stars Future rave with songs to die for!, 25 May 2006
Seems the current trend is to lay the boot into the Infadels when their only crime is not sounding or looking exactly like ever other band to emerge from the UK in the past 24 months...You see, the Infadels do like a rave and as a result their sound is akin to Kasabian with glo-sticks and toasters strapped to their heads.
For people open minded enough, there is plenty to discover and enjoy, ranging from the opening bouncy jolt of "Love Like Semtex", all the way to the spooky drug paranoia of "Stories From The Bar". Now that Primal Scream have turned into the Wonder Stuff, the Infadels have been promoted to the finest disco / rock combo out there today...
And it's cheaper than a night out clubbing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb, 14 Dec 2006
By Mr. J. C. Russell - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
First album I've bought in years that every track is worth listening to. Usually there are at least a couple dud tracks, not on this album though. Has something for everyone, from pop to rock to dance & even a bit of a trancey song. Get it.

keep those winter blues at bay with a big slab of synth funk. Dance till your feet bleed to those merry tunes from East End pranksters.

Another piece of east-end post punk. This is an edgy and inovative record, it does not have the tunes of the Rakes, and is not as hardcore as some might hope, but it does come... Read more
