Product Description

A futuristic thriller dealing with the virulent spread of a death plague caused by a toxic chemical leak. The world is now divided into two camps -- the sick and the healthy. Set in Boston, Massachusetts in the year 2007, military operatives and the local police must work together to find and secure an escapee from a mental hospital before a blood bomb containing the virus explodes either killing most of the population or turning them into raving psychotics.

Some spoilers in this review, but that doesn't matter if you take my advice and do not buy!

Opening credits are interspersed with low quality TV news footage and voiceover that would sound more at home on 1960's "Time Machine". Made in the mid-90s, it looks forward to 2007(!) and predicts that Boston has become a quarantine zone. Curious that the cop cars have "Policia" written on them, and all but a few central characters look hispanic, plus the streets do not look typically american - they are narrow, they twist and turn, and there are lots of old buildings. I didn't catch the location of the shoot in the closing credits, but assume somewhere in Europe or even South America.

Henstridge is the lead character. I liked her in "Species" (what red-blooded male wouldn't!) and also in "The Whole Nine Yards", but here she moves away from self-assured characters to play a rookie cop (3 months on the job) feeling out of her depth trying to chase down a murderer. Chase is exactly what the movie is about - don't expect anything else once the introductory rubbish is out of the way.

Lambert is represented as a kind of hero cop. He comes to the rescue when Henstridge calls for backup at the beginning of the chase (understandably - her partner has just been decapitated). He usefully arrives with not one partner but two (special privilege for hero cops?) to make the new crew up to a foursome.

So the chase is on, highlights are Lambert falling down a shaft for maybe 10 seconds before hitting bottom without breaking a bone, and Lambert and one of the other cops taking numerous gunshot wounds. I think the other cop had a vest on, but Lambert had definitely discarded his, yet he staggers out at the end with some support from Henstridge.

A new highly contagious virus is killing people, accidentally let loose in Eastern Europe. To make matters worse an infected killer cannibal is on the loose in a quarantined area of Boston immigrants. Delon (Natasha Henstridge) who has her own issues leads the gang that couldn't shoot straight against a man with a knife who is not John Rambo. Most of the film is consumed with a boring game of cat and mouse played out between our killer and the good guys.

The movie we are told takes place in Boston, but was filmed in Mostar, Bosnia-Herzegovina which has noticeably different architecture. The police cars are small and have "Policia" written on the back. Who will notice?

I was able to purchase this film along with 5 others on a contagious film 6-pack at Walmart for $5.00

Parental Guide: F-bomb, no sex, no nudity. Scantily clad corpse with arms covering chest.

The Russian government has collapsed. Amidst the chaos, riots, and struggle for power, a terrible weapon has leaked out. Virulent microflage, a deadly germ of the cold war has begun to spread across Eastern Europe, killing massive numbers of people. Now, in a quarantine camp set up for immigrants in 2017 Boston, one vicious murderer has the disease. Within two hours he will become violently contagious, and it is up to a team of officers in a race against time to track him down and stop him... if he doesn't kill them first.
This really isn't quite so bad as people say, ok its a tad slow and repetitive in places but overall its a nice little intense thriller with a horror/sci-fi twist, I for one love 90's cheesy movies like this especially as its an Albert Pyun movie (director of classics like the sword and the sorcerer, cyborg, and nemesis) the movie has some mild violence and some decent make-up effects etc, I like the cast, Christopher lambert is cool as usual and I love Natasha Henstridge from species, not the best of actresses but she's very sexy, this movie has its moments you just need to stick with it, there is lots of crawling around in the dark! if you love cool cheesy 90's movies that you can pick up for cheap then certainly check this out.

DVD has pretty decent picture (Sony pictures)
Region 2, 94mins, 1996, No features but a few trailers.

now before i go on id just like to say the seller delivered this product very quickly in great condition and also still in its original cellophane wrapping. so this is no reflection on the seller they did a great job.
the film on the other hand is a f******* waste of film stock. seriously. it starts weak. continues to stay weak then just decides. "hell! we filled up 90 mins. Lets just end here. Its shot mostly in dark sewers with no lighting in a pathetic attempt to make it dark and creepy but it isn't as it just makes it impossible to see anything or appreciate chris lambert, who is criminally underused. he just shows up no explanation to his character other then hes a cop and apparently a real good cop because he has an employee of the month picture at the police station, and that's that. No decent story to it. other then "hey lets chase this monster/murderer thingy around in the dark for an hour and a half. i'm wondering why it even got an 18 rating because of how dark it is you could never tell if there's supposed to be violence or gore in it. oh natasha henstridge is in it too. she tries her best i suppose but seeing as there's nothing to work with in this flick then why bother.
Even if your a die hard chris lambert fan like myself I seriously recommend just avoiding this at all costs
