Product Description

Manufacturer's Description
In Monster Hunter Freedom, challengers take on a variety of quests and conquer larger than life beasts either alone or with the aid of others. Players start by customizing their own character, choosing the type of hair, face, voice and other various attributes their personalized monster hunter will possess. They can explore a hub village where they can sign up for various challenges ranging from retrieving a valuable egg from the nest of a menacing dragon to hunting down powerful creatures and much more. Hunters can scavenge defeated monsters for food, collect bones for weapons and armor, and even use pieces for decorative accessories. In addition, by completing objectives, players receive an array of rewards that allows them to upgrade their arsenal and equipment, readying them for even tougher battles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compelling and highly enjoyable RPG/Action Adventure , 20 May 2006

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Monster Hunter Freedom is the highest selling PSP game in Japan. With this in mind, I knew this had to be something special. After playing it, I realised just why it is the best seller in Japan.

The story is bascially that you are a Monster Hunter - you are given quests to go and kill a huge variety of different monsters. But this is only the start - there are a whole host of side quests, and numerous activities to do in the Village.

The Village is effectively your base. Your house is here, and there are shops and merchants. There is also a Farm where you have the opportunity to work and earn more money and items. There are also blacksmiths, where you can use parts of the monsters you kill to improve and upgrade your weapons, along with buying completley new weapons. The four weapon types are Sword, Lance, Hammer and Projectile (eg crossbow).

The game has fantastic graphics, the best I have seen on any game. The gameplay is highly enjoyable, and it will keep you coming back for more. With over 200 quests, this game is certainly going to stand the test of time.

A rich and compelling game with fantastic graphics, replayability and story. Well Deserving of 5 stars.

I cannot say i am any where near finishing this game but from what i have seen since i purchaced the game 2 days ago i can honestly say it is truly amazing and the best game i have seen on the PSP so far.
I can not find any faults with this game but if you prefer a short easygame to complete in a week or less then do not buy as it has over 200 missions.

trust me if you like this game genre then do not hesitate to spend some cash and buy this fantastic game

TRUST ME!!!!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Played the Japanese Version, 25 April 2006

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
If this is exactly the same as the Japanease version then this is going to be good my mate had two PSP's and two copies of the games and because he knows a bit of japanease lingo he was able to explain certain things and how to play the game.

This is based on the first monster hunter released on the PS2 and monster hunter G kind of like the first one but with new monsters and weapons and so on.
The graphics are the nicest I have yet seen on a psp game and the detail is astonishing the bad thing is that when you jump to another part of the map there is a brief pause for loading and it takes slightly longer than the PS2 version as well but other than that it was the only annoying thing.

For those who have never played the game you assume the role of a monster hunter and at the very beggining choose your sex, face, hair colour and many other things, once a character has been created you start off in your base town where you have shops and your house.
You start with nothing so you have to speak to the village elder to get some cash and weapons once that is all done you can start your first mission as you progress you must kill wyverns and other beasts and the missions get tougher as you progress from trapping monsters to killing them to defending bases.
Once you kill the beasts you can carve up there bodies and use items from them to create and make better armour and weapons.
There are over 200 missions and the PSP versions one player mode has been made more user freindly also attacks are done using the buttons rather than directions like the PS2 version.
I personally think the new control scheme is a lot better.
The wireless mode is where the most fun is at but you can only do about 70+ of the single player missions all of which are the best ones.
When this game is realeased I urge those with a liking for monster hunting to buy this game as it is a vast improvement to the PS2 version and look s equally as pretty!!!
