Product Description
Manufacturer's Description
Hammer & Sickle is a single-player tactical RPG set in the spring of 1949. The player will assume the role of a top Soviet spy on clandestine duty in the British-American controlled sector of Germany during the early years of the budding Cold War.

In a world where no one is quite who they appear to be, the player is trapped in a hellish plot that could trigger a third world war, this time between the United States and the Soviet Union and their respective nuclear arsenals.

Gamers will have to navigate a web of intrigue and make decisions that could determine the fate of the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Stunning, 13 Feb 2006
By A Customer
I am a great fan of tactical rpgs, having playing them all, ranging from fallout tactics to the UFO series. But this game is in a world of its own. It beats all by a country mile because of the following points:

An absolutely stunning engine with great effects and graphics.
Features every possible weapon from the pre-cold war era.
So many different options, such as 4 different ways of shooting a sniper, or shooting through a wall, etc.
Great animations

And yes i have played the full game. I would recommend this to any gamer and especially fans of the genre.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as it could have been, 30 Mar 2006

This is a real shame. Silent Storm and Silent Storm: Sentinels were total classics with brilliant combat and gameplay. This follow-up somehow, despite using the same engine, mucks up the combat. The role-playing aspect which sounded like a good idea doen't really work.
One of the most annoying things is the lack of ammo for the guns. Why would you save up $20000 for a decent sniper rifle only to have 10 bullets for it with no chance of buying or finding more ammo for it?

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice game!, 20 Mar 2006
P>Firstly it's its a great combination of the turn based strategy with RPG. Game has dynamic difficulty setter. For example you can choose how much damage you will do as a percentage. Even you can choose saving settings. For example save everywhere, save only in base or save in base or traveling map. The harder difficulty you choose the higher score you can get at the end of the game. From RPG point of view, I can say that game has few endings and which one you want to get is based on your performance. And each mission can be completed in several ways. For example you can be as a terminator, kill everyone you see (don't be surprised if you start the 3rd WW because of that). Or you can do it as a stealth, killing only ones you need. Also game has some dynamic conversations. This means that the way you talk to NPS is important, and in some cases can save or take your life. Character creation is the same as in previous Nival's game (Silent Storm), I would say it's quite as detailed as Sims 2 one. In fact I think Sims 2 copied it, because SS went out way earlier.

Saying that the game was made by Nival, is enough to say about graphics. Why? Show me one game which was made by Nival and wasn't graphically advanced in it's genre. Game full of nice effects; dynamic lightning. Shadows are quite good, they way better than HL2 ones. Physics is quite realistic. But all of this is hiding in a shadow of Nival's great destruction engine. I will say one thing, in this game you can destroy absolutely everything!!! The stunning thing is that you were able to see the work of this beauty 4 years ago in Silent Storm.
