The adult gay film `Buckleroos' (with a pre-Brokeback cowboy theme) swooped 11 trophies at the 6th Annual GayVN Awards, making it one of the most successful adult gay films ever made. "Exposed" is a no-holds-barred behind-the-scenes documentary into the making of `Buckleroos'.

As you would expect, the documentary includes interviews with the cast and crew, interspersed with frequent clips from the film itself. However, it is much less formulaic than this sounds, consisting primarily of Mr Pam wandering around the sets, recording the filming as it takes place, and generally chatting to the cast and crew about whatever captures her interest. Inevitably - given the subject matter of the documentary - a great deal of nudity and `action' clips are on offer. However, this film is designed to be a revealing insight, rather than deliberately erotic, and hence the sexual elements fall almost into the background - neatly illuminating one of the assumed purposes of the documentary: to demonstrate that the adult film industry is just a business like any other.

Perhaps the feature that struck me most about "Exposed" was the level of humour it contains. There are so many examples that could be cited, such as the occasion when Dean Phoenix suffers from food poisoning, but since `the show must go on' ends up doing the sex scene anyway (and throwing up between takes); or the unforgettable incident when a (background) petulant cow moos loudly at the universally-accepted `crucial moment' of a sex scene taking place in a barn, causing the guys performing to drop their hard men image and burst into hysterical giggles. The directors of `Buckleroos', John Rutherford and Jerry Douglas, also provide many entertaining moments as well as sharing insights into the porn industry gained through their many years of experience.

Clearly, the cast and crew of `Buckleroos' had a great time making their film, and that really comes across in this documentary. Probably the most iconoclastic element of "Exposed" is in refuting our preconceptions of porn stars ("body by Nautilus, brain by Fisher-Price"), and the key aspect making the documentary so enjoyable to watch is that cast and crew alike have cheerful and outgoing personalities, and really add a warm and vibrant quality.

To sum up: this is an incredibly fun and revealing behind-the-scenes look at the making of a gay porn film, and one that you could watch many times over. So saddle up, grab your Stetson, don your cowboy boots, and buy "Exposed" now.
