As I'm sure many people did I bought this TFT to replace my bulky CRT monitor for the obvious size reasons. After reading many review from all over the web I decided to buy this one as there had been very few negative reviews. With good reason.

PROS:
Very good value for money. Any bigger (ie 20" +) and TFTs seem to get very expensive so a 19" one seemed to be the best buy.

Size - pretty self explanitory - takes up less room on desk. Also of course you can fit more on screen at once.

Looks nice and smart on my desk - silver is more smart in my opinion.

Very easy to set up, you just plug in, change your PC output resolution via 'display properites' and you're away - pust press the 'Auto' button and it sorts its self out - great!

Widescreen is great for watching films (1440x900 16:10) only get very small black bars if anything.
Also great for working on as it gives you more space for two pages side by side, or multiple programs open side by side etc - very useful.
Also good for gaming. I play quite a lot of games and getting the extra field of view is great - more natural. (Although note not all games support widescreen as standard, some just stretch the picture, some fine out of box but some do need a bit of tinkering to get to work properlly - see http://www.widescreengamingforum.com for help)

Good response time - no noticable ghosting present


CONS:

No DVI connection - only VGA input. DVI would be nice, but I guess that'd bump up the cost a bit.

Colour - As with most TFTs the colour reproduction isn't as quite good as on CRT monitors, however unless your a graphic designer or someone who has to have prefect colours then it isn't an issue. However the colours do change slightly when not viewed from straight on, eg white goes a little yellowy, and similar colours may become slightly indistinguishable, but again not a problem for most people.

Contrast - Sometimes when watching particularly dark scenes in films it can be hard to see properlly, but not too badlly.

Backlight leakage - Some people have commented on this before - it isn't that bad but if the screen is dark you can notice a bit - again not too bad.

No pan adjustment. Tilt is ok (unless want to tilt down lots for some reason).

Don't seem able to force 4:3 resolution as detected change and Auto adjusts to fill screen which looks bad.


OVERALL: A great value monitor for the vast majority of people (not much more than 4:3 17" TFT!) including all but the most eager of gamer or graphic designer, but if that's the case then you probablly know you want to stick with CRT anyway.

I bought this acer monitor to be used with my recently bought Xbox 360 as I can't justify parting with the best part of £700 for a HDTV. It fits the bill perfectly, coupled with the Xbox 360 VGA cable it displays visuals at the high definition output of 720p at a fraction of the price of a HDTV. You won't find a more competetively priced 19" LCD monitor, let alone the fact it's widescreen (ideal for 360 games as they output in widescreen by default, so no black borders with this guy!).

I have found this screen to be excellent-straight out of the box, plugged in, it configured itself automatically with Windows XP and I haven't had to alter it!
It looks fantastic-a really nice bit of kit at a really good price.
