Does exactly what it says on the tin. Here we have the complete 57 episodes of the Professionals, starring Martin Shaw, Lewis Collins and Gordon Jackson as Doyle, Bodie and their Machiavellian boss Cowley.

If you're looking at this page you probably know what the series is about. A show famous for its tough story lines, tougher heroes, fast car chases and plenty of action. All of it is presented here across 16 disks.

Episodes are all presented in original 4:3 aspect ratio, with mono sound. The remastering is acceptable, and the picture is as good as a TV series from that era can be. Importantly, several violent scenes usually cut for broadcast are restored, and the controversial episode Klansmen is included.

An excellent value for money presentation, a great way to get your hands on this iconic British series!

There are no extras, and the series are presented in thin card cases, which feel a little cheap. For the price being asked these are minor quibbles. An excellent value for money presentation, a great way to get your hands on this iconic British series!

What a steal this box set is, getting every episode of this classic series.

If you have seen The Professionals already, you know what you are getting - and these remastered discs present the episodes well with good sound and vision. Also included are some fun but relatively insubstantial extras, viewable as clunky page by page script, but interesting nonetheless, for the most part comprising 'where are they now' profiles of some of the many well known British actors who cameoed on the series.

If you have never seen the professionals, what a great way to start! Fasten your seatbelts for the duo who are taken into CI5 - a group who investigate terrorism and other national crimes, under the watchful eye of their mentor and boss, the Glaswegian Cowlie.

The chemistry between the cast is great, the scenes cutting edge for their time, and except for the cars and the fashions, the scripts and plots have hardly dated - the ideas are still as fresh as ever, especially in the later series where the characters of our heroes were explored more and more.

A Worthy box set for any collector of British TV, and for anyone who enjoys quality TV - dont be put off by the age, this is surprisingly fresh thanks to the talent involved.

The Professionals was a hugely successful show here in Germany, my brothers and I watched it religiously and I was madly in love with William Bodie. I've been looking for the Complete Collection for quite some time and was overjoyed to find it here on amazon.co.uk. And I was even more overjoyed to find the show is fun to watch. Granted, it's politically incorrect, sexist and violent, and thank God for that. Germany tends to air mainly US shows that all look the same, with actors so sleak and stereotyped that you cannot tell them apart anymore, it's a physical relief to watch a show that is entertaining with characters that are larger than life but more realistic and more lifelike than most nowaday models-play-cop.

Enough has been said about the technicalities, resolution quality, missing specials etc. You should be aware it's a 70s/80s series that was not shot digitally, and although I too was a little sorry about not having any interviews etc., I am happy enough just being with Bodie & Doyle again :-)

The Professionals is an exciting series from the 1970s. The DVD sets of all four seasons are excellent. This box set is very good and it is excellently presented.

After the success of the TV series the New Avengers that had been produced by Avengers MK1 productions and London Weekend Television, creators and producers Brian Clemens and Albert Fennell created this new series The Professionals. The show was screened on the ITV network in 1977. The first series had 14 episodes and it was a big hit with viewers. The other three series also have 14 episodes per season.

The series stars Martin Shaw, Lewis Collins and Gordon Jackson as agents of the fictional CI5.
The series was created to make a show that would build on the hard edged and gritty toughness of earlier show The Sweeney as well as making a British series that mirrored the sort of fast action of American series Starskey and Hutch.
Clemens and Fennell were executive producers of the show. They had much experience in British TV producing and writing for many shows including the Avengers during the 1960s and the New Avengers more recently. They also brought in composer Laurie Johnson who had composed music for The Avengers and The New Avengers, to write the music score for this new show. Sidney Hayers produced this first series, and the rest was produced by
Raymond Menmuir.
Albert Fennell, Brian Clemens and composer Laurie Johnson had worked together in the 1960s and together had created MK1 productions to make the New Avengers. The same team as MK1 productions now produced The Professionals.

Criminal Intelligence 5, or CI5 is a special branch of British Law that deals with crime of a serious nature that go beyond the capability of the police.
