Synopsis

Inspired by screwball and teen sex comedies, EATING OUT looks at the fluidity of sexuality and dating in the new millennium. Caleb learns that the object of his desire, Gwen, only seems to be attracted to seemingly gay men. Hoping to attract her attention, Caleb takes pointers from his gay roommate Kyle, and becomes so convincing that Gwen tries to set him up with her friend Marc. But when Kyle reveals his own desire for Marc, can Caleb come clean about his feelings for Gwen and set everything right?

3.0 out of 5 stars Lightweight fun, 1 April 2006
By A Customer
Title: Eating Out
ASIN: B000C05YHC

Straight boy pretends to be gay so that he can get close to gay boy's sexy female roommate. However, in order to be convincing he needs to go on a date with gay boy. As you would expect things don't go completely to plan and the result is a fun and entertaining mix between a romantic comedy and farce. As light entertainment this is works really well. The cast is very sexy and the director makes every effort to show the actors in the nude or half dressed. This movie does not pretend to be anything other than a comedy. The world it portraits is free of homophobia, but other than that this movie has no political ambitions. Fun, forgettable and sexy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Sweet, 10 April 2006
I had some trepidation about ordering this, as some reviews I read made it sound predominantly pornographic, but I went ahead anyway ( hard to find any gay movies that are not depressing ).

To my surprise, I enjoyed it greatly and found it not at all like the reviews suggested. The characters are much nicer than the write-up suggests, not all charmless bed-hopping hedonists.

The film gets much more sweet-natured as it goes on, building to the happy all-smiles finale ( as all movies should ).

You will not be disappointed if you order this movie instead of yet another family-disowned-terminally-ill-underage-rentboy-abused-by-unrequited-love ' adult ' film.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bubble gum fun, 22 Feb 2008
By Essex Mark (Chelmsford, UK) - See all my reviews
I really liked this film - one of the main reasons I liked it was that it doesn't take itself too seriously. The acting's OK, but it's just light-hearted fun, and at least it has a nice happy ending as well.

The other big plus of the film is that all the men in it are very hot with a capital H ! There is certainly one scene in the middle of the film when Kaleb is on the phone that is incredibly sexy.

Don't watch this film if you are expecting a high-brow film examining gay life, but do watch it if you want to spend an hour and a half watching some good looking guys and girls playing around and enjoying themselves.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is bad
Words fail me! From the very bad acting to the ludicrous story, there is nothing at all to redeem this film.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some poor acting but still a funny movie
If there is one problem with this movie it is that some of the acting is poor or OTT. It is almost like watching Lazy Town! Read more
