5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Stunning!, 12 Sep 2006
By B. Hadley (Sheffield, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This album is simply superb. Charlie has a rare, fantastic raw talent to both her vocal talent and instrument playing abilities. The title track stands out as a truly gorgeous song which is worthy of being heard by the masses. The other original songs on the album are also well produced. The covers of I hope you dance and Fields of gold are worthy to go alongside the originals, and you can really get a feel for the emotions expressed when these are sang.

Overall a really great album - fans of folk/country will love it! This girl deserves all the success she gets!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, 11 Aug 2009
By Graham Harding (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I 'discovered' Charlie Barker at Ely Folk Festival in 2007. I was a little late as I slipped in to watch her set in the second stage marquee. A small audience sat captivated as Charlie's pure voice and exquisite guitar playing entertained. She gave us 'Fields of Gold' and I thought, oh no! not another version, but try it, it's on this album, and is one of the best covers you will hear of this song.

I didn't buy the album at the gig... even to this day I don't know why, but I followed up straight away on the web.

The whole of Charlie's album sat on her website for free listening for ages, but I finally realised I had to have my own copy.... which is just as well because she has taken the album down from the site now! Do yourself a favour. Buy it, enjoy it; the purity of Charlie's voice is wonderful. It's one of my favourite albums and will remain so until Charlie Barker releases a follow up.... which I can only hope is soon. And if Charlie happens to read this then a few more gigs in the East Anglia region would be good too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great young talent, 29 Mar 2007
By M. Williams "mcmikeymike" (Manchester UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
You hear the name Charlie Barker and don't expect what you hear. In my mind I had conjured a picture of a grizzled aging American guy showing the wears of a lifetime of touring. Instead (and with pleasant suprise), I found a gorgeous, fresh talent who can write, sing and play guitar. Charlie may never be mainstream pop, but that is a loss to the chart buying public. They will never know what a delight they are missing.
