DVD Description

In the tradition of interweaving character drama with the supernatural in such hits as Smallville, a completely new kind of thrill ride takes viewers on a journey into the dark world of the unexplained in Supernatural. Bound by tragedy and blood to a dangerous, otherworldly mission, two brothers travel from the Colorado wilderness to the Nebraska farmlands and on to the isolated Wisconsin lakes, encountering creatures that most people believe only exist in folklore, superstition and nightmares. As they follow clues in their father's journal, the brothers realize that he has passed on to them all the knowledge he accumulated during the past 20 years. They take up the mantle of his crusade and crisscross the lonely and mysterious back roads of the country in their '67 Chevy Impala, searching for their missing father - and hunting down every evil supernatural force they encounter along the way.

Synopsis

Two brothers travel across America searching for their missing father and hunt down supernatural creatures along their way. The paranormal thriller sees Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles, SMALLVILLE)--who has followed his father into the family business of battling evil--contacting his brother Sam (Jared Padalecki) to tell him that their father is missing. As they follow clues in their father’s journal, the brothers realise that he has passed on to them all the knowledge he accumulated during the past 30 years. They take up the mantle of his crusade and battle all manner of creatures in a quest to find their father. The series is made by the Warner Bros Network--makers of SMALLVILLE and CHARMED--and SUPERNATURAL combines elements of those youths battling evil forces shows with the paranormal, sci-fi horror style of the X-FILES. Series 1 – Vol.1 of SUPERNATURAL details the adventures of the brothers in the first half of the first series.

5.0 out of 5 stars outstanding, 16 Sep 2007
By Susan Belcher "Su B" (St Helens, England) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
I like many others stumbled across this series in its late night itv slot and was hooked.

The old wives tales of evil spirits turn out to be true and stalking the USA and its up to Dean, little brother Sam and (when he appears) their father John to fight them.

And it's really interesting to watch the interaction between the estanged brothers who are forced to come together to find their father.

Once again region 2 = second class citizens - there are no extras - and this is the only real let down in an outstanding box set

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great, Fresh New Show, 2 Mar 2006
By Mr. Jwh Graham "jwhg" (cumbria, uk) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Supernatural debuted in the States last September, and in the UK in January.
The show centres around two brothers, Sam Winchester(Jared Padalecki "Gilmore Girls", "House of Wax") a college student determined to escape his family's dark past and his brother Dean Winchester(Jensen Ackles "Smallville") who asks for Sam's help when thier estranged father goes missing while out "hunting".
We soon find out that the Winchester brothers were dragged into the world of demonic beings and urabn legends by their father who is detremined to hunt down the evil spirits that murdered his wife when the boys were younger.
Now Sam who's girlfriend has been murdered by the same forces that murdered their mother the two boys set out on a cross country search for their missing father batting evil forces and trying to avoid the law along the way Supernatural is a show not to be missed.

Highlight episodes from this collection of episodes include, "Pilot", "Bloody Mary", "Skin" and "Home" and guest stars including Amy Acker, Julie Benz and Marnette Patterson. The special effects are great, the acting is great and there is enough fear factor to make you jump on more than one occasion.

Dive into the world of Supernatural, because you'll find yourself wanting more of this ritchly layed new triller seires not to be taken lightly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Supernatural Shocks with Geniune Scares!, 7 April 2006
By Margaritis Angelou (Bloemfontein, South Africa) - See all my reviews
I don't normally do reviews, but I couldn't resist doing this one. Supernatural WB's newest venture is nothing short of brilliance. Of all the dark adventure series gracing our tv screens today, SN is something unique that it captivates the viewer into a world of paranormal where urban legends are the real thing and not just the figment of the imagination. We dive into the lives of the Winchester brothers, Sam and Dean played with likeable distinctions by Jared Padalecki (Gilmore Girls) and Jensen Ackles(Smallville), who tour the countryside in their black `67' Chevy Impala, looking for their missing dad while hunting down Ghosts, Ghouls and evil Urban Legends. It's a family business, Dean tells his younger sibling and has been ever since their mother was murdered by some monster years ago when Sam was just a baby. It was then their father's mission in life to hunt down all evil, which brings us to the present day. Like all WB's heroes before him, Sam's greatest desire was to leave his demon-hunting destiny and settle down with his girlfriend and attend law school. But that's all in vain when his brother arrives at his doorstep with the mission to search for dad whose always one step ahead! So it's not surprising that SN is something remarkable that it holds you in breathless suspense and leaves a distinctly eerie feel throughout the series. And what of the urban legends themselves, we've all heard about them told around at camp or at Halloween, and these images took shape in our minds when we were kids. Be it Bloody Mary or Hook Man or Wendigo, there is something dark inside us that wants to be frightened. And this series does just that, it's spooky, funny, well-written and above all, just good old-fashioned fun. And the two leads are wonderful to watch and the chemistry is just perfect. They get to drive around with a boot full of weapons and false id's with the full intention of breaking the law when it suits them, and because they don't have a choice and because they can. They are heroes and villains all in one. With such plentiful distractions who could ask for more. And with the series creator Eric Kripke (Boogeyman) and David Nutter(X-Files)as executive producer at the helm this series cannot fail to impress. If there is one thing you buy on dvd this year, let it be Supernatural - Season 1! You won't be disappointed! Highly recommended!
