3.0 out of 5 stars this is my current mp3 player..., 21 Nov 2005
By Ms. A. M. Dewhirst (Yorkshire, England) - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)
I first bought the mp3 player that is a grade lower than this one - it broke, but the short time i had with that one, i liked so i then bought the upgraded version, i.e, this one.
I like the size of it, it is very very small, about 3 inches long so it can easily fit in your pocket. Well i'm saying it can easily fit into your pocket but the earphones it comes with have a very short wire so it they don't actually stretch from my ears to my pocket! The earphones it comes with, are however very nice looking and very good, they have been rumbling around getting crushed in the bottom of my bag (when not in use) for a number of months now and still haven't broken, so i still use them, but dangle it around my neck instead of putting it in my pocket. I have managed to fit on it about 100 songs - not much compared to other mp3 players on the market but for the price it is, it is still a good amount.
The volume can go very quiet or very loud which is always a good feature lol.
It is easy peasy to put songs onto it.
Once you've got the hang of it, it is very easy to use.
It has a good quality voice recorder on it and, if you have enough room, you can record a lot on it.
HOWEVER: It says it has a battery life of 8 hours, well mine certainly doesn't, even with the most expensive batteries it only lasts about 3 hours, unfortunately, thats a lot of batteries to go through, but at least it only takes one at a time.
The backlight is blue which looks very snazzy and cool, except when you try to read it in the dark, you have to change the backlight setting to see it better, then change it again to see it in the light.
If , say, you are listening to song number 3, then you suddenly decide that you want to listen to say, song number 60, then you have to scroll all that way and it takes quite a while with the little joystick thing.
It has a little cartoon that comes on it every time you turn it on, you can choose what kind of cartoon you want it to play (out of four choices - i chose the footballer btw) but you cannot choose to turn it off so it can get a bit tedious if you're impatient to listen to music.

In brief, it is a good, dinky little mp3 player and has lasted me a good year, however, i am going to buy another one soon so i can listen to more than 100 songs for hopefully more than 3 hours. The best feature is it's complete tiny-ness, i love that it is so small yet can fit so much information on it's screen. I was going to get an Ipod Shuffle but the fact that it has no screen was a big turn-off, so i'm going to have to sacrifice the small size for better features.

    1.0 out of 5 stars 8 hours battery life???, 11 Feb 2006
    By A Customer
    Nonsense!

I received the player yesterday, together with four 800 mAH AAA batteries. 30 minutes into the enjoyment (and on that more latter), the player displayed 'low power' and packed up. So I inserted the second one - which lasted 32 minutes.

Now, not being particularly fond of the noise on the Tube, I play music at nearly full power - but 30 MINUTES?! The claimed 8 hours, in short, is plain nonsense.

The strangest thing of all, though, is that, upon returning home, I put batteries into the charger - and they were full within 15 minutes. In other words, it's not batteries but the player being incapable of even reading the power levels in batteries adequately.

And that's not all – in addition to other reviewers complaints about the design, quality etc listed elsewhere (and all valid):

1 - The music is less than smooth - akin to a dirty CD - didn't even know that's possible, but ATMT managed to surprise me there.
2 – Distinctly average sound overall, even through Sennheiser PMX200 (superb!) headphones.

Finally, for those who think ‘you get what you pay for’ – wrong! This piece of waste does not stand up to the equally-priced iDisgo 256MB Flash MP3 player which I bought 4 months ago for a friend (and who is very happy with it!), but which is – sadly! - not available on Amazon anymore.

For the first time in 3 years that I’ve been shopping with Amazon I will return an item; and I severely doubt that my next MP3 player will come from Amazon.

In the meantime - I hope that no-one else suffers the inconvenience I have been through; and wish best of luck for those that do not heed this warning.

P.S. The ATMT Group is apparently planning a quotation on AIM, according to their website – is putting out incompetent products like this one a cost-cutting exercise, then?

    4.0 out of 5 stars dinky, 12 May 2006
Nice little player. Lightweight, simple design. Easy to use if you ignore the frankly bizarro instructions. Just put the disc in then it's just a case of dragging n' dropping song files. Practically does it for you. 'Own brand' batteries are no good with this player tho. They have a life-span of about 5 songs then run out. Tried it with *cough* one of those with the copper coloured head and it runs for ages. One thing about the 'mode' button. It moves left and right, but it took half an hour and a child of school age to work out that you need to push it INWARDS to access other features. Nice dinky little player then for the money. The kind of trinket I wouldn't be surprised to see falling out of Hugh Grant's mother's crackers.

    At Christmas.
