8 hours battery life???, 11 Feb 2006
By A Customer
Nonsense!I received the player yesterday, together with four 800 mAH AAA batteries. 30 minutes into the enjoyment (and on that more latter), the player displayed 'low power' and packed up. So I inserted the second one - which lasted 32 minutes. Now, not being particularly fond of the noise on the Tube, I play music at nearly full power - but 30 MINUTES?! The claimed 8 hours, in short, is plain nonsense. The strangest thing of all, though, is that, upon returning home, I put batteries into the charger - and they were full within 15 minutes. In other words, it's not batteries but the player being incapable of even reading the power levels in batteries adequately. And that's not all – in addition to other reviewers complaints about the design, quality etc listed elsewhere (and all valid): 1 - The music is less than smooth - akin to a dirty CD - didn't even know that's possible, but ATMT managed to surprise me there. 2 – Distinctly average sound overall, even through Sennheiser PMX200 (superb!) headphones. Finally, for those who think ‘you get what you pay for’ – wrong! This piece of waste does not stand up to the equally-priced iDisgo 256MB Flash MP3 player which I bought 4 months ago for a friend (and who is very happy with it!), but which is – sadly! - not available on Amazon anymore. For the first time in 3 years that I’ve been shopping with Amazon I will return an item; and I severely doubt that my next MP3 player will come from Amazon. In the meantime - I hope that no-one else suffers the inconvenience I have been through; and wish best of luck for those that do not heed this warning. P.S. The ATMT Group is apparently planning a quotation on AIM, according to their website – is putting out incompetent products like this one a cost-cutting exercise, then?
