Product Description

CD Description

Those who had long been hoping for a Tori Amos live album were thoroughly appeased in late 2005 with the release of the12-disc ORIGINAL BOOTLEGS box set. This mammoth offering presents six Amos shows on two discs each, with all of the performances drawn from her US/UK tour in support of THE BEEKEEPER. Although the set lists do lean noticeably toward that record's tracks, Amos also obliges the faithful with beloved older songs--"Icicle", "Tear in Your Hand", "Silent All These Years", and many more--and charming cover tunes, includinga gentle take on Joni Mitchell's "Circle Game" and a spare-yet-buoyant version of Leonard Cohen's "Suzanne".
During each concert, the pianist/vocalist's talent and personality shine through, with Amos often digressing into playful musical moments and humorous asides. Of particular note is Amos'sLondon date, which features the emotive singer backed on certain tracks by a gospel choir, giving the songs a strong soulful lift. Though this collection may be more live Amos than some listeners might want or need, devoted fans will relish these excellent concert recordings

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning Live Collection, 19 Dec 2005
By A Customer
Finally Tori fans have the opportunity to get a collection of fantastic live material from the Original Sinsuality tour. Tori's voice is superb as ever and the banter between songs is both funny and touching. There are many highlights to be savoured including an amazing cover version of Bon Jovi's Livin' on a Prayer and rare B-sides such as Never Seen Blue and Honey. Tori also goes back to old ground with a performance of Y Kant Tori Read's Cool On Your Island. Each set opens with the mystical and soaring Original Sinsuality which invites the listener to Tori's unique and enchanting world. The astounding Beekeeper is also a staple of each set and is performed with great effect on the organ. Pele fans will be happy with the material as Tori revisits these classic songs and injects new light into them including a fresh and passionate new take on songs such as the teary Donut Hole and Hey Jupiter. All in all a must-have collection for all Tori's ears with feet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Live material for the hardcore..., 18 Nov 2005
By A Customer
This is an excellent collection of live material from her latest tour (2005). She revisits old tracks from all her albums, including the much sought-after "Y Kant Tori Read", but includes in every show certain themed tracks from her latest album "The Beekeeper". For any Tori fan these recordings are little sparkling gems, spanning all moods from blackest sorrow to leaps of joy and banter. Tori gives her all on stage and is much loved for it. Every show includes a little chat with the audience, as well as improvs and requests. Actually, the requests on their own make this collection worth buying, they are that good and performed innovatively, true to Tori-style.
The sound is brilliant, as is the editing which gives the concerts a flow without taking away too much of the "in the moment" feel or suffering from cencorship (and there is plenty of swearing!!:)
Yes, this may be for the hardcore fans firstly, but Tori live is always enjoyable and should gladden any music lover.
Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars an amazing live collection, 5 Dec 2005
By A Customer
At last, an officially-sanctioned live release from one of the world's most compelling live performers.
A must-have for Tori fans, this 12-disc collection from her recent tour showcases her extraordinary live talent.
Unlike many artists, Tori chops and changes her setlists from night to night, meaning there are few repeats.
Her versatility is demonstrated by the amazing number of one-off covers she performs, which all get the Tori treatment and show how anything she sings she makes her own. On these discs, they include everything from Joni Mitchell's Circle Game, Bon Jovi's Livin' on a Prayer, Leonard Cohen's Suzanne and Jim Croce's Operator to Madonna's Like a Prayer.
The highlight for this listener is the two-disc set from her show at the London Hammersmith Apollo, where the London Gospel Choir joins her for four outstanding tracks from her new album The Beekeeper. This concert marks the only time she has performed the tracks Witness and Hoochie Woman.
On other discs, little-played rarities include Never Seen Blue, Ruby Through the Looking Glass and Garlands. Enjoy.
