Can I Have It Like That..... NO., 23 Oct 2005
A collobaration with Gwen Stefani! Then it's bound to climb the charts, but is it really any good?Ok, lets admit it, Pharrell Williams, good. Gwen Stefani, also good, but pair the two together and its like imagining the Queen break-dancing on Christmas day instead of giving her tradional dull speech! This collobaration isn't going to win a MTV Best Single award and probably won't even make it onto the Nominee's list. There is something about this track that just doesn't fit. First of all, the title.'Can I have it like that', what exactly is it that he wants? Well, one thing is for sure. It definatly isn't a Number 1 hit. Two, what is Gwen playing at? She doesn't collobrate at all. Instead, she reacts to Pharrell's chat up line 'Can I have it like that?' with 'You got it like that'. If thats all it takes our Pharrell to bag a beauty then his onto a winner! Finally, the beats. What beats I hear you say? My point exactly! The opening reminds me of a Ja Rule and Ashanti track and if he had kept to that through the entire excuse then it might have at least being half decent. Then comes the bridge and it smells like The Game all over. Infact, it smells like The Game so much at that Pharrell will probably be getting raised eyebrow by passers by! Has naughty Pharrell been canoodling with The Game in the studio, we hope not! The reason I have given the tune 3 stars is purely based on the fact that its Pharrell and good old Gwen. For that alone, its bound to stagger into the Top 20. But here's some advice for you both to listen to. A collaboration is where 2 singers actually sing! Not just repeat one tired old line, Gwen! They really don't mix well together at all, they seem as fake as Pamela Anderson's assets. Can I have it like that? No, you both certainally can't.
