different, but still good, 26 Dec 2005
By A Customer
this O.C. mix cd is quite different from its predecessors (1,2 and 4 - excluding 3 because it was a christmas cd) in the respect that it has a lot fewer unheard of bands on it. this time there are songs from the likes of Gorillaz, Subways, Imogen Heap, Phantom Planet, Kaiser Chiefs and Kasabian, whereas normally i would only expect to have heard of 2 or 3 of the bands on the cd before. this is not necessarily a bad thing, but certainly makes this mix different from the others.stand out tracks for me include California 2005 (whistled instead of sung like the show themetune is), Daft Punk Is Playing At My House, Requiem For O.M.M. and Rock and Roll Queen. this is another great O.C. mix cd, it just differs from the others, but still performs what it sets out to do - collect some poignant songs from the show.

Back to basics, 20 Nov 2005

After getting Mixes 1, 2 and 4 (3 seemed a little too christmasy for me), I had second thoughts about getting Mix 5. I loved 1, 2 was a dissapointment, and 4 was better, but still had songs that I would never buy, had it not been an O.C. album. But this mix is a lot better than 2 and 4. Like a previous reviewer said, it has quite a few well known bands on it, which is unusual for an O.C. mix. There's Kasabian, Gorrilaz and Kaiser Chiefs. However, there's also a lot of unknown bands aswell, which may introduce people to new sounds and music. There are vast differences between Mix 1 and this one. Mix 1, while having some rock tunes, mainly had soft ballads. This has a few (Forever Young by Youth Group, which was heard in the Season 3 episode 'The Last Waltz', when Ryan and Marissa danced, Hide and Seek, by Imogen Heap, heard in the Season 2 finale, when Trey was shot, and the acoustic version of the theme tune, California, by Phantom Planet, heard in 'The Shape Of Things To Come'.)This soundtrack will mainly interest rock fans, which is not the kind of music that I usually listen to. However, I found myself liking most of the 12 songs. My favourites include: Forever Young - Youth Group Rock and Roll Queen - The Subways Na Na Na Na Naa - Kaiser Chiefs California 2005 (Whistling) - Phantom Planet Even if you don't watch the O.C, I'm sure they'll be many people who are intersted in this album.

oc mix 5, 15 Nov 2005

It is a great album, however there are alot of artists that are well known in the UK in this album. In the previous albums they have introduced many bands to the UK, that i would of never heard of if it wasn't for the albums. I feel that's what compilation albums should do, instead of just puting out whoever is popular at that time like the Kaiser Chiefs. I still recommend it though to everyone.
