More than just housekeeping, 8 Nov 2005
A big, chunky, glossy, commercially led magazine for 30-something (and upwards) females, packed full of lots of product information and very generous little reviews of furniture, clothing, kitchen utensils, accessories, and bits and pieces new to the market. Although it features some articles on home renovation and design, the greatest emphasis is on its female readership - clothing, diet, make-up, activities, health, etc. There is a degree of celebrity endorsement, but the few famous names which appear on its pages tend to be in the form of human interest stories - how they coped with bereavement or illness, etc. "Good Housekeeping" presents an image of sophistication and desirable living without appearing too aloof or beyond the pockets of most people. It's a readable magazine - it invites you to do more than just look at the pictures - with a variety of content. Ultimately, however, it is an ideas magazine, one you'd use to inspire you with ideas - albeit general |
