The Morning After Girls are set to release their debut single, Hi-Skies, in the UK in March 2006, presumably with this album in some form or other due to follow in the near future.

Its a collection of the songs off their 2 self-titled EPs, along with a new song in the form of title track Shadows Evolve (which is the correct name of the album). And its fantastic.

Their dreamy, druggy soundscapes recall the better work of the Dandy Warhols, fused with the hazy lyrical confusion of the lesser-known Brian Jonestown Massacre, and with more than bit of the brilliant kick of first-album B.R.M.C. (with whom they recently toured in the US). Despite the variety of source material for this release, a set of new recordings has given it cohesion and focus. Standout tracks include all three Australian singles: Straight Thru You, a spacey Dandys-esque romp; Hi-Skies, which pinches the central riff from Supergrass's Richard III and runs away with it; and Shadows Evolve, with a drifting bassline to die for.

An essential band of 2006 for the UK (and 2004/5 for everyone else).
