DVD Description

Since first exploding into the public's consciousness with her much acclaimed role as "Mad" in the Punk epic Jubilee, Toyah has gone on to establish herself as one of Britain's most successful, prolific and versatile artists, featuring in many television, film and stage projects including the seminal UK movie Quadrophenia.

• As well as her success as an actress, Toyah established herself in the 1980's as one of Britain's most popular female vocalists, notching up a remarkable total of 82 weeks in the British charts with 11 Hit Singles, several of which lodged themselves in the top ten, making Toyah one of the most recognizable and iconic performers of the era. Amongst the tracks performed are the UK top ten hit singles ‘It's A Mystery’, ‘I Want To Be Free’, and ‘Thunder In The Mountains’.

• "Wild Essence…" features Toyah performing a full show to her ever loyal fanbase at the Robin 2 club in Wolverhampton on her 2005 UK tour.

I was at this gig and had been looking forward to seeing it all again when this DVD came out and I wasn't disappointed!
The gig is full of energy and Toyah is such an entertaining performer on stage. I personally think The Robin, Wolverhampton was a great venue for the gig because it is fairly small and makes the gig seem so much more personal. Toyah is fantastic and shows what a rock chick she has become! Stand out tracks for me are Our Movie, Obsolete, Danced and Till Victory.She performs some covers of her favourite songs but these too are given the Toyah treatment and sound brill! Even if you weren't a Toyah fan you can't fail to be amazed by this DVD so BUY IT and see why Toyah has such a reputation for her live performances!

This DVD is outstanding. It's an eighty minute live concert recorded in 2005, which features several Toyah classics alongside some well chosen covers, which not only show off all the different colours in Toyah's voice but also just what this band can do. Toyah gives so much energy to her live performances and doesn't stand still for a minute, which obviously makes the audience join in. The concert is a non-stop energy fest that motivates you in such a way that you walk away from the concert with a smile on your face, knowing that you've witnessed something truely astounding. This is a blinding concert and the special features, including a very informative interview, complement it perfectly.

This is a must for anyone who has seen Toyah live over the last two years (she's toured and played many festivals), Toyah fans, and simply anyone who enjoys live music at its best. This DVD, without doubt, shows Toyah to be one of the best live perfomers in rock at the moment.Buy it and see for yourself.

I am a fan of Toyahs music since the early 80's. I looked forward to a concert dvd, because i wasn't able to visit a Toyah concert yet. But what did i get: poor picture quality, average sound quality , an overall average band and
a singer far from her best days on stage.........sorry.......the only star i give is for the bonus videos....!
