If you like your music cheesy and aimed at the young teenage audience, then buy this now. Other than that I have to say, compared to The Annual 2005, this is not a true reflection of dance music which has been brought out in the year 2005. I got this album for christmas last year and have only listened to it twice. There are roughly 2 songs worth listening to which are not songs which have been given the "commercial virus" and been overplayed to death on the radio. DHT-Listen to your heart and Stunt-Raindrops. For this alone, it is not worth paying the full price for it.
The mixing is poor within this compilation and it shows no mixture in technique and has clearly been slapped together with no thought to how well this would go down in a club. Obviously each of these have been huge club hits but if it was a true indication for club music they would have at least added some club mixes within this. Almost every song is a radio edit and even the DHT remix is poor.
I bought this album in the shops for 15 quid and it really is a worthless album. The DVD content, however, is actually very good and the music videos are a nice touch to the album, making this 2 stars not 1. Ask yourself this before you buy "The Annual 2006", do you really want to pay this price for around 10 music videos which you can see for free on digital TV?
To be honest, if you are looking for true dance music....you won't find anything here. The dance music scene has been going downhill lately but that doesn't mean it's dead! This seems to be the attitude that the people at Ministry Of Sound have had as of late as each of their albums have been more and more geared towards how disgustingly bad the "Now!" compilations are becoming. Perhaps the MOS crew have changed their target market to 12-16 year olds. Who knows. All I do know is they need to change something soon because MOS are losing valuable fans which have stuck by them since the early days and ditching them for the new breed of fans.....consumers of cheesy, washed up "dance" music.
The bottom line is, if you fall under this category of people who love buying albums where every song you know and have heard countless times on the radio and think it's the best stuff you've ever heard, this will be well worth it for you. True club and dance music fans, steer clear of this piece of rubbish!

If this truly is a round up of the year's best dance tunes, then the word 'best' has become one with little meaning whatsoever. Maybe the true title should be

***************A round up of the Year's highest grossing dance tunes***************

If you're looking for actual dance music, I'd suggest something from Cluband this year. MOS have just turned out 'funky' tunes. Sure, good for a 13yrs olds bday party. Embarassing to play at an older party though. If you're into more hardcore, trance, or house music, you'd better look elsewhere.

This is the first time in a while that I've listened to a compilation and thought why did they bother. Generally MOS compilations are a guarantee that you're going to get some great tunes that are brilliantly mixed. This compilation however doesn't really reflect the great music that's been released this year. Even with the DVD this barely raises this product above mediocre.
