'Grandmasters' sees the pairing of two of hip hop's most influential artists, DJ Muggs and GZA. Produced entirely by DJMuggs and featuring the GZA's gravelly vocals, the album's mix of guitars, heavy bass and harsh breaks echoes Muggs' work with Cypress Hill, while the GZA's vocals give the album a very Wu-Tang feel. Guest vocals come from Masta Killa, Raekwon and RZA.

I only had a limited amount of money to download this album so i previewed each track hoping for a weak track to reduce my price... but there wasn't a single one- at least for the first ten tracks. Even the intro was atmospheric and a perfect scene-setter( it exemplifies the importance of a strong intro). This album has tons of metaphors of chess-playing and if you think back to all the rappers you know, MF DOOM, Nas, Jay-Z, Murs, Del, Guru... hell, any rapper or rap group out there (that I know at least), there isn't anyone better to weave an album of tact, guessing, double-guessing, twists, efficiency and elegance, who else would you want behind the mic? Some say he's washed up but form is temporary - class is permanent.

His first album licked 'it though. Muggs production deserves an extra essay but we'll save that for their sequel.

This album was a collabo of muggs [cypress hill producer] , and gza of wu tang clan. You got two of hip hops greats. Muggs is my fav producer , so this caught my eye , as well as gza being one of my fav mcs. For me it was a must have. The album leaked however months before , and heads already had it. First off the production is a mixture of wu tang and dark cypress beats . Songs like "all in together now " are wu bangers . The production is safe to say almost flawless.

GENIUS/GZA in 1995 he released one of the greatest hip hop albums ever "liquid swords" the classic . Many wondered if gza could do that type of record again. So he then drops beneath the surface and legend of the liquid swords , decent but not near the 1995 lp. So now you have his laid back very detailed , amazing lyrics. Its the closst effort to liquid swords yet . This album saved hip hop in 2005 , gza story tellin ability is great. I cant pick out pecific songs , as they all are fantastic. Wu members are on the album ,and sen from cypress hill. But if you are into hardcore/ underground / real hip hop.. then you will like this. If you a fan of lil flip,lil jon ect... then dont touch it, cuz you probably wont like it.

This album is definitely a modern day classic, great production from Dj Muggs and of course great lyrics from the genius gza.
Theres no skippable tracks on this album there all good but my favourite tracks are "general principles" "all in together now" "illusory protection" and "smothered mate".
If your a wu fan or you just love hip hop buy this album now its a breath of fresh air and you wont be dissappointed!!
