5.0 out of 5 stars Daniel O'Donnell sings rock'n'roll., 8 Jan 2006
By George Miller (Melbourne,Australia) - See all my reviews
I have never listened to Daniel O'Donnell until I purchased this DVD,that I did purely because I recognised the title of every track,of which there is about 60.
I can only say that his style may lack vigour and projection however I found the show to be very entertaining, his voice tuneful and very easy to listen to.The more I watch this DVD the more enjoyment it gives me.
I would say that I now am in pursuit of further work of Daniel's and of his guest on this DVD Mary Duff who I found to be a delight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Daniel at his best, 4 Oct 2006

This is a great Dvd for all the family to enjoy, full of colour, fun and the best of the 60's & 70's Rock and Roll music. Daniel does fantastic tributes to the biggest stars. The show was such a success that it is going to tour again in 2007.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant, but could be better., 29 Jan 2006
By Louis Radford (BIRMINGHAM, West Midlands United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
If you like Daniel O' Donnell, you may well like this DVD. The collection of songs is lovely to listen to and watch over and over again, as well as to sing along to, as all the songs are well-known.

Unfortunately, there are some things that, in my opinion, spoil an otherwise excellent concert.

First of all, Mr. O'Donnell's apparent lack of emotion. He does show a bland smile here and there, but his emotions come across as rather artificial. Although I'm sure that he puts a lot of feeling in his singing, this does not show well facially.

Another thing is the poor camera work. It made me feel a little dizzy, but then this sort of panning in, out and around seems to be the norm with pop concerts.

Finally, there seems to be a lot of reliance on visual effects: dancers whirling around the stage in glaringly bright costumes. I'm not sure that they improve on the quality of the concert.

However, if you've had a hard day, put your feet up and play this DVD. You'll feel happy and relaxed afterwards.
