Product Description

CD Description

The masked, nine-man nu-metal machine unfetters its first live album. Slipknot's live show has always been highly praised and this sprawling 2CD set, recorded at various dates on their 2004-05 world tour, documents the band's vicious, confrontational music in its rawest form, with a superb live mixcapturing every nuance of their dense, multi-faceted sound.Includes material from all three of their Roadrunner albumsas well as two rare tracks.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Review From A Non-Metalhead, 20 Feb 2006
By Hobo Joe (Anywhere, your Mum) - See all my reviews
I bought this album 2 days ago in New York on Holiday. I used to hate Slipknot and think them just screaming. A friend got me into them via constant persuasion and then he burned me a compilation CD which had some Slipknot songs on ("Wait And Bleed", "Duality", "Spit It Out", "The Nameless" and "Pulse Of The Maggots") and I really enjoyed the brutal energy and power of them. I'm not a massive fan of most metal, but I do like some bands (System Of A Down, Arch Enemy, Trivium, Mastodon) and decided to buy a 'Knot CD, but didn't know where to start. Seeing as I've read all these things about their amazing live shows, and this was on sale, I decided to buy it and wasn't disappointed. Slipknot have got a great energy about their live shows and that really comes across in this CD. Corey Taylors vocals may be ragged but that's part of the appeal, it's rough, raw and incredibly exciting.

The intro is great with a false announcement that Slipknot won't be playing, then they take the stage to hammer the crowd with "The Blister Exists." And continute to tear apart the stage, hyping up the crowd, adding extra screams and basically beefing up studio versions. My favourite songs ("Duality", "Wait And Bleed", "People= §***" and "Spit It Out") sound twice as good live especially during "Spit It Out" with the "Zero bulls***" thing as Corey gets the crowd hyped up. To add to the brilliant live chaos there's rare tracks ("Purity", "Get This") and a fantastic drum solo from drummer extradionare Joey Jordison.

All in all, fantastic, great fun and a head-pounding pleasure to have in anyones collection of CDs, wether they be a hardcore maggot or metal newbie. Buy it, you won't be disappointed if you're looking for an exciting, fast metal album.

3.0 out of 5 stars A nice idea, but doesn't deliver, 5 Mar 2007
Slipknot are famed for their incredible live shows, so when this came out i had high expectations. Unfortunatly, the best thing about the live show is the atmosphere, which you just don't get by listening to it in your living room.

The sound quality is fantastic, and the tracks are all merged together so it feels like one long concert track (when it's actually a compilation of their best live performances from their Vol.3 tour - you'd never know apart from the fact he says "Yes singapore!" on one track and "I love Las Vegas" on the next), but corey simply can't scream like he used to be able to, and he slurrs a lot of his words when he's trying to sing really quickly. Corey performs better on the songs from Vol.3, obviously because he doesn't scream as hard as he does on the other albums.

He also swears a hell of a lot too (the first thing corey says is "are you ready for this Sh!t motherf*ckers!") which isn't a problem, except when your Dad asks to listen to it...

Musically though, it isn't all that bad, you get used to corey's slurred vocals eventually, so I'd recommend it if you've never heard any of their stuff before and want a lot of tracks for a good price.

But considering Slipknot's reputation for amazing live shows, it's just not what I was expecting. It would have been good to package it with a DVD with some live videos.

If you want to listen to some good live shows, buy Disasterpieces, so you can see all the action as well (or just type slipknot in youtube).

5.0 out of 5 stars My House Never Used To Be Like This..., 4 Dec 2005
By C. Tuton (Hull, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
My House Never Used To Be Like This...Thats right your house will be turned upside down with 9.0:Live Album from Slipknot. You've heard the refined version and now you can get the live version of some of the best Slipknot songs. If your a fan its definately a must have but all I know is that my sound system's bass and volume are maxed out all the time with this album.

I think I'll have to turn it down soon though, the plaster is starting to crack on the walls...

The older songs are brilliant although the songs off 'Vol 3:The Subliminal Verses' Corey's voice is amazing.

"Life is Loud" why should it be any different with Slipknot.
