4.0 out of 5 stars Chainsaws n shothuns n Sidekicks?, 4 Jul 2006
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Evil Dead is one of the most famous and great film franchises around but game tie ins havent had the formula to live up to the blockbusters until NOW! This game is gruesumly awsome the graphica and voice talent are great Ash looks incredibly like the young Bruce campbell who also lends his voice for Ash and also the new sidekick feature meet Sam your (non-evil) Deadite voiced by (Ted Rami)Ash uses sam to get passed areas or solve puzzles and abuse. unfortunatley the game is short which gives it overall 4 stars but with all the bonus stuff to unlock its got alot of replay value. To sum up - Gore-One liners- violence-and loads of unlockables all in 1 game. Buy it if u love evil dead

4.0 out of 5 stars Bargain Bin Deadite Entertainment., 12 Mar 2008

Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Being one of those unfortunate people that have not quite upgraded to X-box 360, or been totally ripped off paying extravagant amounts for PS3, I find myself digging through the basement bargains bins for cheap gaming entertainment to pass the occasional hour that I get in the evening. So I picked up this game for a few quid and was not really expecting too much.

In the game you play Ash, chopping his way through countless hoards of Deadite scum, with his trusty chainsaw and boom-stick. The Evil Dr Reinhard taking ownership of the Necronomicon, whilst Ash is forced to make his escape after being imprisoned in an asylum to rescue Sally.

The action, play sequence and plot seems to get a little monotonous at times but the bosses at the end of each chapter seems to be fairly easy to kill, and it was nice to find a game that I did not have to scour the internet looking for cheats to help me through the game. Incidentally - and I could be wrong on this - I do not think you'll find any out there anyway ! The two hardest bosses in my own opinion were the giant frog - which if you harpoon its tongue to the floor and hack it with the chainsaw and the final boss The Evil Dr Reinhard which goes down fairly easy it you kick Sam at the Necronomicon during the re-energising phase.

One bonus in this game is that the voice of our hero Ash is played by the ever lovable Bruce Campbell, whose quick wit and remarks make an otherwise mediocre game an enjoyable piece of dead crunching, demon demolishing, skeleton crushing, computer entertainment. Ted Raimi as Sam - Ash's deadite side kick - is worthy of a mention in the supporting role, whose lines of script only add to the comedy factor in this game. I also thoroughly enjoyed being able to turn into Evil Ash, powering up to take out those bad guys.

Something that I really was not too keen on, was the fact that you could not save the game at some points when you really wanted too. There are save points throughout the game, but sometimes I just wanted to save the game at placed where no save was available - forcing me to yet again play through screens and kill villains after dying stupidly a few seconds later !

I did find myself at the end of this game totally perplexed by the ending. OK so Ash has beaten the evil big boss, but like everything else in his life, everything seems to turn to Ash. Maybe that was why Ash was named Ash, everything turning to Ash no matter what the hero does. Poor Sally !

Enjoyable Deadite nonsense !
