Synopsis
The independent horror film SHALLOW GROUND combines elements of the genre that will keep all types of fans happy, relying equally on gore, atmosphere, and a narrative of suspense and mystery. Local sheriff Jack Sheppard, still wracked with guilt a year after failing to solve a series of murders, is forced to close down his precinct. However, on his final day, Sheppard is presented with his first lead in the case for months, in the form of a blood covered naked man who stumbles into the station. Unfortunately, the man seems to be a total amnesiac, unaware if he has committed any crime. Now Sheppard must try and discover the man's identity in order to gain insight into the crimes that have stymied him for so long.

A naked teenage boy covered in blood appears at a remote sheriff's station one year after the brutal unsolved murder of a local girl. Now Sheriff Jack Shepherd, guilt-ridden over the girl's murder, must confront his own demons as he desperately searches for the boy's true identity and possible victims. Little does Jack realise that he has started down a path that will bring him face to face with an unthinkable horror.

Before sunrise the living will pay for the pain the dead have suffered...

Recently me and a few friends rented this film, as the cover and story plot seemed interesting, how wrong we were! Most horrors seem to conceal the creature or spirit chasing the main characters, so you get a sense of build up throughout, and so jump out of your skin! However, this film even from the very first second, shows you the creature (or in this case a blood covered kid), and so when he appears, you know what to expect!

There is no initial plot out-line until the end of the film (last fifteen minutes) when the so called "twist" is revealed, and where the majority of this low-budget horror's budget has clearly been spent, but spent unwisely.

It is a shame, as this plot and film could have been brilliant, if it had just focused a little more on overall detail, lay-out and had a bigger budget, it could have been a real shocker.

I have given this film two stars as like I have already said, it could have been good, but due to the fact that nearly the whole film is set in the day time, does not warrant a third star.

If you are planning a scary night in with Ben and Jerry and a few mates then DO NOT RENT/BUT THIS MOVIE, as disapointment will prevail. I would reccomend WOLF CREEK!

Really surprised by this film.

A very original idea well-executed that veers off in different directions very satisfyingly.

It's important that films like this are made. Films that have an original idea, that stays with you afterwards.

There are no other films like this one, the imagery, the atmosphere, the sense of dread - a great movie if you like something different.

I couldn't agree more with the previous reviews of this film. I barely got 30 minutes in before I was fast forwading in the vague hope of any improvement in the story/acting.
