4.0 out of 5 stars Voyager Box set, 10 Jan 2006
By Trevor (New Milton, Hampshire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
Great box set and all the extras at the end of each season give you great insight into the making of the series if you are a hardened fan, but disappointed with the pakaging for the price.

When I bought the Next Gen collection you got a certificate and a clock which made it worth the extra money, but the individual seasons of this collection come in cardboard packaging not the proper hard plastic boxes that you get when you buy the seasons individually and considering the individual series are now cheaper to collect you would think you would get better value for money.

Thus, unless you are a collector I suggest you just buy the individual seasons boxsets.

4.0 out of 5 stars attempting to compensate..., 16 Oct 2006
well it is an unique series..Janeway and of course o' Nine makes this worth while...the packaging is at best disapointing (to say the least)..but it's all there
and you do get your moneys worth in the sheer number of hours viewing..
but there are times (as a non ST fan)where you find your self screaming at the screen saying "Just press the darn button!!!!!!"
time and time again the ship is damaged or an opportunity to get home slips past for the simple and only reason that the crew absolutely insists on giving a full and detailed descripton of what they are about to do before they actually do it!
"am shunting the main power coupling through the secondary power grid via the main back up deflector array....."
"too late....main power off line captain"
please just press the darn button...please pretty please...???
you'd just have to shoot them in real life...
i've no complaints tho

5.0 out of 5 stars Voyager Box Set - Finally we can boldly go at our leisure., 24 Oct 2005
By John-paul Corcoran "jpcork3" (Cambridge) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Voyager was the first, out of all the Star Trek spin-offs, to be created without any consultation from the late, great Gene Roddenberry. Voyager is now 10 years old and I think it is plainly clear that it remians the dominant series. Voyager's success is down to a unique synthesis of the pioneering efforts of the SNG team, as well as the success of, the somewhat shaky, DS9, whose emotional and intimate story lines remain unparelled to this day. Unfortunately Voyager's successor was over ambitious and highly disappointing, it certainly did not carry, or indeed receive the baton, and so Voyager remains the flagship series. I defy anoyone who challenges the beauty of this creation; name one other series that quotes from Dante's 'La Vita Nuova', and portrays the character development of highly self-critical and unconfident hypochondriac, over seven years, so well.

The box set will let you enjoy Torres' courting of Tom, the mysterious disappearance of Kes, Harry's slow maturation, and the slow acceptance of Chakotay as a reliable, dependable moral conscience of both the crew and the wonderful Kate Mulgrew. If you are in two minds about purchasing this publication, take a step back and consider the implications of your choice. Owning this set would at first appear as simply an over indulgence, but remind yourself, Voyager represents a cultural, technical and social revololution; it inspires morals, it educates and it definately entertains. Do not deprive yourself of this release; take home a piece of history and be proud of your choice.
