I searched high and low for this set having once borrowed the LP set in my teens. Fortunately I found the first CD release second hand, only because it wasn't available new!
The quite simply magical combination of Gerald Moore and Fischer-Deskau is one not to be missed. Moore seems to move instinctively with Fischer-Deskau. The result is a flawless and spellbinding performance, rarely encountered... if ever.

This is the second CD release of Fischer-Dieskau's monumental Shubert Lieder originally issued in 3 volumes on 28 vinyl discs. The first CD version at ca. 1990 was difficult to handle because of the lack of general index. Here we have the same CD's with (at last) index. The greatness of this recording is needless to say. However, this include Lieder for male singer only and, Deutche Grammophon planned to supplement by Gundula Janowitz (5 vinyls). This supplement has been published as 2 2CD sets which shall not be missed.
