having watched all the august underground and guinea pig films i did not think there was anything left to shock me, boy was i wrong! scrapbook holds nothing back and throws extreme violence and sadistic torture in your face, this is not a film in which you can sit and enjoy, but its more of an endurance test, both the acting and the on screen violence is very realistic and deeply disturbing, not once does this film let up, but keeps you watching to see if the girl actually escapes, be warned this film is in the same taste as the august underground series and if easily offended by horrific sexualised violence then i would not bother purchasing this but if you want to see how far a movie can actually go then i would recommend this.

Scrapbook is an amazing film (make sure you get the Region 1 uncut, as UK region 2 is cut by 15 minutes). It has an intense realism throughout. The film involves a serial killer who has imprisoned another victim at his house. He keeps a scrapbook of his bloody history and photographs and films everything. Throughout the film he rapes and abuses the female and films her ordeal which he replays for her. The rape scenes in the film are brutal, violent and realistic; they are amazingly shot with highly competent direction. It also includes some gore and violence which is unpleasant. This is a near perfect film the script, plotting, direction, lighting, editing are all faultless for this type of film and the leading actress puts in an amazing performance, better than most Oscar winners. It was shot over 13 days on a minute budget and in my opinion one of the greatest films ever made. A must see.

The film takes the viewer on a no holds barred journey into the twisted and disturbed mind of a killer. It is very extreme in portraying just how ill the kidnapers mind is. I am commenting on the US release here not the uk version which is cut to shreads by some 15 minutes !

This is a very difficult film to rate in terms of "entertainment". It is not an easy watch and will not be for everyone. It is one of the more brutal, disturbing films I have sat through, but I am glad that I have seen it.

If you are upset by scenes of rape and torture, it is probably best to give this one a miss. However the raw performances of the two lead actors is something to behold. Yes, it is horrible and twisted and their performances make it real, you can believe in her fear, and his twistedness.

Filmed with a low budget and what appears to be handheld cameras, the filming style adds to the gritty realism. The film is rough and doesn't look pretty but nothing about Scrapbook is pretty anyway. It is like getting a window into a killer's world, and it's a horrible place to be. I am not sure this is art, but if it is making a statement of any kind, it is about the depths that the human mind can sink to, and also the strength of survival instinct in the worst of circumstances. Or maybe it's just nasty for nasty's sake.... who can really tell?
