ECW Lives!, 21 Aug 2006
There were many who doubted the ability of the WWE to adequately promote an ECW show. Those who saw their poorly executed angle in 2001 involving ECW and WCW will remember Vince's reputation for burying talent that was not of his own making. The inclusion of the Raw and Smackdown rosters, supposedly poised to bring the show down seemed to many to be a confirmation that the aforementioned would be the case.
They were wrong.
By handing the creative reigns over the originator of what ECW was, the genuis of Paul Heymen, WWE were able to produce a product shockingly similar to the later days of ECW (circa 1999/2000).
Why did I give it four stars then? I was one of the few who knew this would be a good show due to the strong card however none of the matches were given the time they needed to truly develop consequently none of the matches were five-star classics.
That being said, what a show it was! A decent opener between Chris Jerico and Lance Storm, a disappointing match between Rey Mysterio and Psycosis (which the crowd hated) a good match between Benoit and Guererro (who was in a bad mood that night because he didn't want to lose), a good but way too short 3 way dance between Tajiri, Little Guido and Super crazy, a good match between Sabu and Phine, an outstanding match between Tanaka and Awesome and a great main event between the Dudley's and Tommy dreamer and Sandman.
All in all, a great show and an absolute must for any ECW fan. It also includes the best promo of Van Dam's career and entertaining commentary by JBL.

EC F'N W!!!, 22 Feb 2006
By A Customer
So, with the McMahon family owning almost everything in the wrestling world, save for the psychos in CZW, you'd think that it'd be damn near impossible for a hardcore wrestling event to arrive on such a grand scale. You'd be wrong. For the first time in 5 years we have some of the greats in ECW doing what they do best, being hardcore, chair swinging freaks too damn ugly to be in any cartoon. One Night Stand is probably the best PPV to be associated with WWE since the Royal Rumble 2000 (and that was only really good cuz of Taz, Cactus and the Dudleyz). So, we have the classic ECW arena... we have Joey Styles and Cactus Jack doing commentary... we have Paul E. ... oh, yeah, we also have Raw and Smackdown! superstars in attendance to crash the party. That said, we also have wrestlers in the ring who started on the road to glory in ECW, including Ray Mysterio, Lance Storm, The Lionheart Chris Jericho (that's right, none of this Y2J business) and Chris Benoit. Thrown into the mix we have an awesome bout between Mike Awesome and Masato Tanaka, RVD and Sabu mounting an offensive on Rhino, Sandman and Dreamer vs. The Dudley Boyz and an all out brawl between the ECW and WWE wrestlers, all being egged on by Stone Cold and starting with Taz and Kurt Angle, which resulted in the Blue Meanie being cabbaged somethin chronic! So, for what is really a WWE event, it is absolutely brilliant and just as hardcore as old ECW.

ECW - One night stand DVD, 14 Feb 2006
By A Customer
The one thing you have to remember about this PPV was that it was not actually ECW running it as the ECW franchise is now dead, Vince McMahon had a damn cheek to say that this DVD was to promote ECW in any way because the whole time the limelight was on most of the WWE superstars who were trying to ruin the night by coming in to watch the event and saying that the company was a piece of crap from the moment it started to the moment it finished. You have to remember that it was actually WWE presenting this and this does really show throughout the PPV as the WWE superstars have the limelight the whole way through. So why did I give it 3 stars I hear you ask??? well basically the matches saved it a little. Some great hardcore wrestling matches just like ECW was and also a couple of great wrestling matches like Eddie guerrero V chris Benoit. Overall I would say that this event could have been fantastic if it were not for the fact that Vince McMahon was very greedy about promoting his company, WWE the whole way through. If he had just let the ECW people go at it for one night without his medalling this would have been great!
