Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

In a nutshell:
While most WWII games seem to be based on flimsy Hollywood history, Brothers in Arms is the real "proper history" deal, making your trail of wanton destruction all the more satisfying. A mixture of first person shoot ‘em-up and squad-based strategy, the game features totally authentic locations, weapons and tactics.

The lowdown:
Since the first Brothers in Arms game only appeared in March, the first question to ask is: what was the rush, folks? There’s no obvious answer. Earned in Blood hardly marks a paradigm shift, but still has a number of cool new features: enemy artificial intelligence is now far more realistic, and the graphics have been noticeably improved, with a lot more urban environments. The all new skirmish mode offers shorter, more abstract, missions for greater longevity than the first game and also a great excuse to team-up with a friend for some co-op action.

Most exciting moment:
Using a flimsy barn for cover while your men carefully outflank a machinegun nest, allowing you to dash out and blow everything away.

Since you ask:
All of the battles in the game are based on real WWII events. Official photos, maps, after-action reports and eyewitness accounts were consulted.

The bottom line:
Still the best WWII game around.
Harrison Dent

Admire the scenery... and then shoot people Has accidentally just shot a puppy
If nothing else, it was a nice day for it Seminal WWII weapon "the blurry gun" makes an appearance

5.0 out of 5 stars A great step forward....., 10 Oct 2005
By PhilJarvis (UK: Yorkshire) - See all my reviews
On the whole, I enjoyed Road to Hill 30, but it didn't quite live up to my expectations.
Thankfully, Earned in Blood is a great improvement! Right from the start, you feel much more involved. I've played four missions so far, and the combat is hair-raising. Battles are much more dynamic: the germans no longer sit behind cover, waiting to be flanked. Especially in built up areas, they have the nasty habit of retreating to better cover, or worse still, trying to outflank YOU!
So, turn off the suppression indicators and cross hairs (they're just cheating!) and do your bit to liberate France!

5.0 out of 5 stars Top notch game!, 11 Jul 2006

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I have both the brothers in arms titles so far, "road to hill 30" and "earned in blood". Having played them both a couple of times i can now say that they both deserve a 5 out of 5 score!
If you like the film "saving private ryan" and the series "band of brothers" then you will find these games have similar parallels.Nice to see games which have a good storyline and a number of different characters to help the game along!
I try to make it as realistic as possible by taking out the cross-hairs and removing the suppression indicator to highten the experience.
The graphics are good and the weapon sounds are reasonably authentic and the games themselves don't need a high spec super pc to play them!
its all about squad based tactics and these need to be followed to accomplish most missions! the four f's.....find...fix...flank...finish the enemy!
looking forward to the 3rd installment...."hells highway"

5.0 out of 5 stars Back on the front line with old commrades., 7 May 2006
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
After playing the first Brothers in arms game I couldn't wait for the second helping.
Earned in blood is as good as Road to hill 30... If not better. I know that some people complain about authenticity of weapons and tactics and so on. However the attention to detail that there is... is way beyond that of which was available in the days of the commodore 64. I think the producers of this game have worked very hard to achieve a very high standard. And remember.. It's only a game after all.
I really enjoyed playing. It was like being back with old comrades. The levels are well spaced out. Unlike a lot of shoot them up war games, you have to use your head in getting around a tactical situation. (Command and control) Great stuff.
Playing this game gives everyone the chance of trying out his or her skills of leadership. And in most cases you will get through and be a hero...Well done to everyone in the Brothers in arms Credits, as seen on page 28 (Soldiers handbook) When's Brother in arms three coming?
Oh Before I close I should just like to congratulate Red Hartsock on his promotion to Sergeant.

Howard (Berlin)
