5.0 out of 5 stars A mature and classy piece of work, 11 Nov 2005
By Chinacatalba (Livingston Scotland) - See all my reviews
This is the first Steve Harley release of new material for 7 years and it has been worth the wait. Gone is the poetry of the earlier albums but that has been replaced by the relections and ruminations of a man now in his 50's.

Every track is a standout so it is difficult to single anything out but Last Goodbye is a fine opener and Last Feast could be described as cathartic, Journey's End is about saying goodbye and letting go of a loved one while Coast Of Amalfi is gentle.

Catch the man live if possible; My gig of the year. This current band are worthy of the name Cockney Rebel and in the live setting Stuart Elliott has been restored to the drum stool.

Don't leave it another 7 years Steve.

5.0 out of 5 stars In A League Of Its Own, 14 Nov 2005
By Mr. D. Mcadam (West Calder, West Lothian United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Make no mistake, this is a truly outstanding album. It has the hallmark of becoming one of these pieces of work that you listen to time and time again, a fistful of vibrant and textured songs that transport you to another place and leave you there.

Some albums seem to be able to hook your soul and become part of your life for a long time - you hear a track and it brings back memories as fresh as the day it happened. This is one such album.

Order it now, and start making those memories!

Drew McAdam

5.0 out of 5 stars Recommended, 9 Jan 2006
I buy quite a lot of music covering many different artists and styles. I am moved for the first time to write a review as this album is a very pleasant surprise. Having been out of the mainstream for some time I expected a low cost production effort from Steve Harley but it soon became clear that everything from the songwriting, arrangements, production, musicianship and even the packaging are of the highest quality. Every song has something to offer and it is certainly my recommended album of 2005.
