The box set comprises 9 CDs & 2 DVDs, plus a full colour booklet with photos, etc. A separate booklet will contain lyrics to all the songs contained in the box set. This will mark the first ever release of a complete ABBA studio recordings set since the band's formation 33 years ago, and the first set to tell the ABBA story both through audio and video content.

The first eight CDs will include each of the band's studio albums, plus all the B-sides, versions in Spanish, German, French and Swedish, etc. CD 9 will contain a selection of rarities, most of which were originally released after the band's heyday.

The lavishly packaged box set will also include 2 DVDs, featuring all the promo videos ever released by the band, THE HISTORY documentary which covers the overview of the ABBA story, and a previously unreleased concert, which was originally a part of the television special Dick Cavett Meets ABBA.

So here we go again, yet another ABBA collection for us poor suffering fans, but instead of a 20 track single CD compilation or another remaster of the existing album with bonus tracks or a bonus CD/DVD what we get is basically the 8 studio albums that were released during the group's lifetime plus various foreign language tracks as well as tracks which had appeared as 'b' sides or on earlier compilations. The set also includes a 9th CD of 'rarities' plus 2 DVD's of videos and other stuff.
Overall, it's an excellent package which puts all the albums and videos in one convenient box. Of course, you're going to get the dodgy tracks as well ('King Kong Song' anyone??) but you can see how the group develops musically during that time. Of course you can always use the skip button on your CD player if you want to give those tracks a miss.
As for the DVD's.The 1st DVD - the videos- are as always worth watching and it also brings us up to date by the inclusion of 'The Last Video'. The other DVD in the package could have been served better by adding more stuff to the existing 2 features (which runs to less than 45 minutes).
For the casual fan it may not be worth the effort(stick with the compilations). For the die hard they may well have all of this in their collection (and would always moan about the lack of obscure tracks) but for those of us who like to have things in a convenient format this is ideal and as such it is well worth the money.
Now if Bjorn, Benny, Agnetha and Frida could reform...........

Firstly my copy does not say NTSC anywhere on it or on any of the discs, so not sure where that comes from. That said this is truly a definitive collection and very well presented in its blue suede effect box. My friends love the CD's themselves, they are printed to look like vinyl LP's and even the underside is black, super cool! If your an original ABBA fan you will remember carefully taking their LP's out of the sleeves, well you can do it all again with these CD's, love it! As for what is on the CD's and DVD's as a fan I have heard many of the tracks yet many of the foreign and mix tracks are new to me so that was a treat. Each CD comes in a card sleeve with the original album art on it, each CD however has often many extra tracks and the full track listings are noted on a card insert. You know the music is without exception, that goes without saying. The DVD's especially the music video disc is a real treat to have all their videos in one place. This is not a must have set...its a can't NOT have set!

As an Abba fan since I was 11 (from Knowing me Knowing you onwards), there isn't much of theirs that I haven't got, from solo albums to compilations and everything in between on vinyl and CD. So although there is very little brand new to me here, I loved it to bits. The packaging is fabulous, as is the 'truthful' way the albums were put together (ie the original mixes, not the annoying edits). If you are new to Abba and have got the budget, this is all you will ever need. It tracks their career from bubblegum pop purveyors to musical masterpiece makers. For the Abba fan, it's a wonderful companion to the Complete Recording Sessions, or the guide to their studio recordings by Carl Magnus Palm also available on Amazon. Ok, it means making yet more shelf space for the Abba stuff you don't need, but no true fan's collection would be complete without it.
