Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
If Safe As Fuck offers more of the same from Newport comedy rap crew Goldie Lookin’ Chain, it’s the sort of news that should satisfy the army of fans charmed by 2004’s Greatest Hits. Every bit as puerile as its predecessor, "Your Mrs Is A Nutter" sets the tone, relating a tale of a girlfriend "fighting with bouncers and flashing her tits" over an entertainingly overwrought guitar solo. As with the first album, some of the Chain’s individual heads get their time to shine. Adam Hussein helms "Charm School", a guide to going on the pull set to the Grange Hill theme tune, while the crew’s towering valleys representative The Maggot plumbs the depths of bad taste with "Maggot At Midnight".

Admittedly, there is some filler here: "R&B" takes a pot-shot at the genre’s lyrical triteness and more absurd vocal histrionics by, er, copying them in silly voices; "Shit Song", meanwhile, takes a rather limp stab at inspiration-free chart music, and in doing so, rather lives up to its title. Luckily, elsewhere the jokes come thick and fast, and there’s no little ingenuity to GLC’s profanity, as the closing "Sister"--a sort of 'Dear Jane', all about dumping your significant other and hooking up with her sibling--entertainingly confirms.--Louis Pattison

From the Label
After the phenomenal success of their debut album Greatest Hits, which spawned several classics of our time, such as "Guns Don’t Kill People, Rappers Do", "You Knows I Loves You" and "Your Mother’s Got A Penis", Welsh rap golden boys Goldie Lookin Chain are proud to announce the release of their new album Safe As Fuck

With new tracks such as "Your Missus Is A Nutter", "Bad Boy Limp", "Hit Song" and "HRT", the Newport based 8-piece are back once again like the renegade master. Like En Vogue said: and now, it’s time for breakdown:

"Missus is A Nutter"--once again the chain accurately portray the social evils of 21st century living, with this guitar based slammer, guaranteed to get alcoholics of both sexes waving their arms in the air at closing time. The song, like the majority of others from the album, is brand spanking new and unheard of by the public. So far, test plays on chosen members of the UK media have resulted in an urge to date an overweight alcoholic... bring forth the tyranny.

"Bad Boy Limp"--Had an accident in the past six months? Then turn up the stereo and weep as GLC bring all the fun and excitement of the small claims court directly to your sound system, the tune that doubles as instruction manual for anyone looking to claim damages after wetting themselves or slipping on vomit in a nightclub, Bad Boy Limp is quintessential listening for anyone who’s been on, or is planning to be on, the sick for the next six months.

"Hit Song"--If Eric Prydz can make a smash hit from a sample lifted from his dead grandmothers sickeningly bad 1980s record collection, then GLC can sure as fuck rip it to pieces. Hit song will destroy the very foundations of popular culture or alternately justify your hatred of the American/Eurotrance invasion that has been clogging up the UK charts since soccer thugs first discovered ecstacy in the early nineties. Hideously catchy with an underlying cynicism, there’s every possibility that this will be the audio fodder of every drinker in every nightclub for the next twelve months.

"R&B"--Let GLC take you to the places that legendary boy bands such as Nsync, Westlife and Blue can only dream of. The Raw emotion that is R&B is a tribute to most sexually exhilarating form of electronic communication known to man, and each beat is individually soaked in the perspiration of romance. If the world were to end tomorrow, then this song would be responsible for global repopulation without a doubt. For Real!

"HRT"--Hormone Replacement Therapy, The horrific fact that smoking Cannabis can reduce testosterone levels has driven GLC to release this scientifically accurate, fact filled beat frenzy. The tune sets out to both entertain and educate... Maggot’s horrific recollection of his recent experiences is enough to give the hardest of smokers second thoughts.

"Short Term"--Adam Hussain’s ode to memory damage, this tune is guaranteed to run through your conscience to the point of insanity. Highlighting the often forgotten but highly annoying temporary senility that occurs during abuse of popular relaxants "Short Term" will keep on rocking for a long time. It also features a slide guitar that sounds fucking wicked.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best one yet, 21 Sep 2005
By Afrosheen (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews
I've been a casual fan of GLC since I heard 'Guns Don't Kill People..' off the first album. Pure genius but it sounded like they recorded it and everything since then on someone's broken 4 track. Really bad production and levels.

This album changes all that.

It almost seems like these clarts decided to stop monkeying around and get more serious at least from the production side. Lyrics are still classic GLC, plenty of stuff to remember and laugh about. The rapping is on time and so clean now, it's almost like a different, turbocharged, racing-striped GLC.

Most people outside of the UK may not know the GLC and they're really missing out. I'm in the US and will continue to love the GLC and the draw until one of them ends.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Know's it!, 5 Sep 2005

I saw GLC at V festival this year and they performed a taster of 4/5 tracks from the new album and I will definatly be buying this on its release.

If you have never heard any of their work (masterpieces) before then you should have a listen, its not to everyones taste, but if you like catchy tunes with great lyrics and you have a good scense of humor then pick this up!! If you have their old album then you will love this!

Sister, Charmschool (remixing the old grange hill soundtrack) and You're misses is a nutter are all superb tracks and defaintly on par with the hits from there 1st album.

Their lyrics are pure genius and each of there songs tells a story which in some way shape or form everyone can relate to (well apart from 'You're Misses is a nutter' I hope!!).

Another smash hit album from the GLC. Get it Boyo - TIDY!

3.0 out of 5 stars Great gags - shame about the gags, 20 May 2006
By William Burn "gingerburn" (Nottingham, UK) - See all my reviews

I love the GLC. Greatest Hits still cracks me up every time I listen to it, and makes me proud to live in the country next to Wales, but Safe as F***? I'm not quite convinced.

Not that there's anything wrong with the album: it's an absolute belter. Every track is sharp, funny and pokes fun at some or other self-satisfied conceit of chart music, but the problem lies elsewhere. And that problem is Greatest Hits. The most disappointing thing about this disc is that the gag is essentially the same as last time, and no matter how clever the rhymes are, the fundamental knowingly-innocent premise of the band's success is identical to the earlier CD.

So where do the GLC go from here? Who knows. Probably a day trip to Caerphilly.
