Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

In a nutshell:
It’s been a national institution for over decade now and the latest FIFA game is finally here, with lots more attacking gameplay, more customisation, more attention to detail, more online and offline multiplayer options and the deepest manager mode ever for the series.

The lowdown:
With Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer series snapping at its heels with ever more voracity, suddenly it’s FIFA that’s got something to prove. The answer for this year’s edition is a new emphasis on attacking play, with a suite of new tackling, dribbling and shielding controls. Naturally, it’s got all the new stats for the 05/06 season, but with the new create-a-player option you can change the facts to fit you. Also new is a 15 year career manager mode to prove your footballing skills don’t end when you’re off the pitch.

Most exciting moment:
Winning the treble after 15 years of hard graft in the all new career mode.

Since you ask:
According to cover star Wayne Rooney, the FIFA series is popular with many other premiership players, especially when travelling together for away matches.

The bottom line:
The best FIFA game, if not the best football game, ever.
Harrison Dent

Wayne didn't realise falling asleep in a nuclear reactor would have side effects EA were keen to show they were on the ball
More Rooney, here having an existential crisis Wayne to go! I only have eyes for Roo! etc. etc.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, exciting and well presented., 1 Aug 2006

Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Well presented graphics with nicely detailed players and stadiums, all the official licences for the players, leagues and teams, but most important of all a fun and playable multi and single player experience. Fifa 06 is fast and fun and also has a bit of depth, and scoring spectacular goals and making flashy moves with star players is very satisfying and feels intuitive due to the excellent controls. 4/5 overall, if the game was souped up a bit to take advantage of newer pc hardware then a 5 rating would be fair.

4.0 out of 5 stars VERY GOOD GAME, 4 Oct 2005
Fifa 06 is better than the previous FIFAs .it has a decent gameplay, many options and keeps your interest alive.only the graphics are in my opinion worse than fifa's 2005.they are a bit strange.
Gameplay is now close to Pro evolution soccer and is much better than before
Multiplayer game is just wonderful.

2.0 out of 5 stars A big disappointment over FIFA 2005, 5 Oct 2005
I bought this on the strength of Fifa 2005, and wished I hadn't.

FIFA 2006 can only be described as a poor adaptation of a console game. The poor graphics in the menus and in-game displays, the slow gameplay compared to Fifa 2005 (although it is meant to be more realistic), and poor controls do not keep customers.

On the plus side, the highlights are more suited, the dynamic view of the game impressive, but thats it.

My advice: save your cash, buy Fifa 2005 at a bargain price and enjoy a better game. The developers who wrote Fifa 2004, seem to have written 2006 so EA Sports - release a polished product even if it takes two years, and don't bank on your previous reputation to milk us of our cash for a substandard game.

A Maradona hand-of-God has robbed us for another 12 months. The rating - well I'm feeling generous as it comes in a nice shiny box.
