It's the fun that counts., 6 Feb 2006
Having owned FIFA 2004 and FIFA 2005, and enjoyed both of these doing the career mode with my dad, it seemed logical to buy FIFA 2006. When I first got it on day of release, I couldn't wait to get started. I must admit that my first session on it was a great disappointment as it was just too different from FIFA 2005 in terms of cameras and controls to be enjoyable. Back in the box it went. My dad then asked me what it was like as he was keen to play it. I told him that FIFA 2005 was so much better and that FIFA 2006 wasn't worth it. He convinvced me to try again, and wow do I thank him for it! Once I worked out how to set cameras and difficulties, and also got used to the slightly slower play in the matches, I can say without a doubt that FIFA 2006 is the only football game that I feel is fun to play on your own, especially CAREER MODE. CAREER MODE has got to be the best thing about this game! I just love the way that you are asked questions by the press, fans and The Board of Directors, with the answers you give determining bonus budgets (on a number of occassions I was granted an exta 1000!) and also how they look upon you and your team. The only down side is that THE TRANSFER MARKET is too clever for its own good, and more often than not you can't sign anyone. Overall it is very good and easily the equal of FIFA 2005. Yes the AI is very clever, but on more than one occasion I have beaten the likes of Man Utd and Chelsea 7-0! So it can be beaten. Afterall it wouldn't be any fun without a little challenge, and of course it's the fun that counts!
