5.0 out of 5 stars Anthem Of Our Times (Sadly), 9 Sep 2005
By A Customer
If ever there was a song that perfectly captured the mood of the times we live in, then this is it. The song is about the menace of our drinking yob culture on a typical night out on the town.

The lyrics throughout this song and the album, have a 'Ye-Olde-English' rythming slang to them, for example "Walking through town is quite scary, it's not very pretty I tell thee", which perfectly sums up the song, not just because of what the lyrics are obviously telling us, but also, the use of 'Olde-English', which is probably comparing our violent society to how it was back in the dark ages of the 18th century, i.e. we've almost come full circle.

The guitar work here, is very angry and menacing and perfectly captures the feeling of fear and paranoia. This is a cracking, fast, furious, thought provoking anthem.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2 BRILLIANT Songs, 27 Sep 2005
Well done Kaiser Chiefs, Even after 3 releases of I Predict a Riot, they still manage to get No9 in the UK Singles Chart with a brilliant B Side that along with Hard times Send me should have been on Employment. 10/10 Buy it even if you have Employment, worth the B Side

3.0 out of 5 stars Fifteen minutes nearly up, 2 Sep 2005

Well, I'm sure it will have appeared in the Top 10 by now, soundtrack for the summer as it was.

Still not entirely sure what the fuss is, but it does have one of the best choruses of the year, and comes in a shiny 7" vinyl version, which is always welcome.

Yet more Stranglers type keyboards rumblings, which makes me wonder whether every NME botherer of the last 2 years has a secretly stashed Stranglers best of tucked away out of sight.

The new song is even more Stranglers like with lashings of J J Burnell bass lines which, unfortunately, don;t reallly go anywhere, as the Tenpole Tudor vocals let things down. 14 minutes and counting.
