5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning, one of the best RPG's on the PC, 6 Oct 2005
Fable: The Lost Chapters contains more content than its Xbox counterpart, released earlier this year. Microsoft have produced a most brilliant slice of fantasy cake.

Admittedly, I didn't think I would like this game, being a hardcore KOTOR player (another cracking RPG), I was a little hesitant to go from lightsabres and pistols to swords and bows. However, this is definately one of the best purchases I have made in a long time, since buying KOTOR 1 in fact.

As a boy who's village is ravaged by bandits, you must travel to the Hero's Guild and train from a boy, to apprentice, and ultimately into adulthood. This part of the game was fun, but a little disappointing. It felt a little rushed to put the player into adulthood, even with all the sidequests played. I was most looking forward to being an apprentice (a young person), but found this to be the quickest stage. All this set aside, once you leave the Hero's Guild and travel out into the big, wide world or Albion, the game really becomes excellent.

The bulk of the game is accepting Hero Missions from inside the Hero's Guild. There are hundreds of sidequests to do, and lots of other fun things to add a bit of light-hearted gaming to it. You must learn your sword skills, bow skills and "Will" powers. Will powers are basically magic abilities, and really are fantastic. I must say I have not yet completed the game, and so I cannot comment on the farthest stages.

In terms of video hardware, the game isn't very demanding, which is what I liked a lot. I have a powerful machine, however, a Pentium 4 3.4GHz, 512MB of RAM and a Radeon X800 XL card. Despite this, I found KOTOR was very computer draining, even mind struggled. But, Fable, with all its graphical glory, can be set to maximum settings and NO lag at all! Fantastic really.

So in conclusion to this taster of Fable: The Lost Chapters, this game really is worth the investment, if your an RPG fan or not, you will love this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great game, 8 Sep 2006

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I'm not quite sure what version the last reviewer seemed to be playing, but it definatly wasn't the standard release! Just to clarify, the game never crashed for me once, you CAN save the game whenever you want, the control system is perfectly fine (you DO NOT need to hold a keyboard button and mouse down for spells for example, don't know where he got that from. It's just the one mouse button.) and if you can't use the scroll button without pressing it down then I think you need more practice!

All that aside, Fable is a great little RPG. OK, it may not be very long or have many side-quests, but it's quirky and fun to play - a great way to spend an hour or two a night for a few weeks. The graphics are very sharp but very playful in nature and the sheer size of some of the weapons will make you laugh! Highly recommended if you want an RPG that's not going to take over your life (i.e. any of the Elder Scolls).

5.0 out of 5 stars another great game by lionhead, 23 Sep 2005
lionhead has yet again, made a cracking game this time released on pc.

at a first look the graphics looked very detailed with some beutiful scenery and buildings. The npc have actual expressions on their faces and the scenery is very realistic. But by no means has this stumbled the gameplay.

There is a story line in fable which you do not have to follow by any means there is plenty of other things to do.One of my favourite aspects of the game is that in most games ive seen the npcs just stand in the same place all day, in this you actually do get day and night and the game actually runs by itself. The npcs actually have a proper life eg:waking up, opening shop, eating lunch/tea, going to the pub, going to bed and live a proper life style. There are lots of little extras in the game that you can entertain yourself for hours with eg: getting a wife, buying houses and buildings ect but if your not the kind of person who likes doing that then you can just get on with the story line and side quests.

Alot of people said that the only thing wrong with fable on the xbox was that the storyline was too short.Well the pc version is 1/3 bigger and the story line continues on where the xbox storyline finishes for quite a long time.

I would strongly reccomend buying this game whether you have finished the xbox version or not. There is alot more to do and explore.
